The hardwood on our stairs had deep gouges and the finish was completely worn off on the high-traffic treads. It looked bad and felt rough underfoot. CM'S Wood Stairs sanded all the treads and risers down and applied a fresh finish that brought the wood back to life. The gouges are gone and the surface is smooth again. They also tightened up the railing posts while they were working since a couple had some give to them. The staircase feels sturdy and looks consistent from top to bottom now, which is a nice change.
Our staircase railing was wobbly and the wood on a few of the treads had started splitting. It was getting to the point where it didn't feel safe, especially with older family members visiting. CM'S came and replaced the railing and repaired the damaged treads. Everything feels solid now and the new railing actually matches the existing woodwork in the rest of the house. That was something I was worried about going in, but the color and grain are close enough that it all looks like one piece.
The oak stairs going to our basement had this weird creaking on every other step and the finish was all worn through to bare wood in spots. They pulled off the old treads and put in new ones, matched the stain to one main floor which I honestly thought would be impossible. Stairs feel solid now
