About University of Idaho: Student Health Services

The University of Idaho Student Health Services is a helpful and caring clinic that offers a range of medical services. Patients with complex physical and mental health conditions praise the staff, especially Dr. Hazen, for managing medications, ordering labs, and referring to specialists when needed. The clinic treats patients with respect and kindness, and many compare their experience favorably to primary care providers. The staff is particularly appreciated for their respectful and helpful approach, including in trans care. While wait times are generally reasonable, some patients find blood draws challenging and recommend scheduling these through Gritman Hospital. The clinic is also recognized for listening to patient needs, including those seeking hormone replacement therapy, and providing fair treatment compared to other healthcare providers. Despite some minor issues like call-back delays and communication about location changes, overall, the clinic is viewed as a supportive and attentive healthcare resource for students.

I’ve had very positive experiences at the student health clinic. I have several complex chronic physical and mental health conditions and Dr. Hazen has done a great job at helping me manage them. I’ve been able to get both my psychiatric and non-psychiatric meds filled here. She has taken all of my concerns very seriously, ordering labs when needed, helping adjust medication, and send referrals to specialists when she feels she’s out of her wheelhouse. Testing and labs are either done in the clinic or at gritman. All of the nurses have treated me kindly. I had low expectations coming in but my expectations were blown out of the park. Don’t think of this place...read full review

Generally really nice people, I really like Hazen and all the nurses are very nice. They are very respectful and helpful in providing trans care specifically and the wait times are not usually very long. My only complaint is that it is always a hassle getting blood drawn here, so I would recommend scheduling that through the main Gritman hospital. Can't speak to copays as I have medicaid.

I've pretty much only had positive experiences with them, I may have somewhat of a low bar considering my last doctor was at Kootenai Health but they're far more helpful and caring than some doctors I've seen. The co-pays and wait times are fairly standard for a clinic like this and they've gotten a little worse at call-backs lately and there are definitely some areas to improve (like letting people know they relocate to the quick-care behind walmart during academic breaks) but clearly they are at least trying. I went to them for access to hormone replacement therapy and they actually listened to me. Other doctors have been discriminatory or outright refused to give me...read full review
