“Update 02/02/26 BEST VETERINARIAN EVER!
I moved to the Coeur d'Alene area recently. The veterinarian that I left was absolutely wonderful I had been with them for over 20 years. You couldn't ask for a better veterinarian's office staffed with caring kind doctors and vet techs. I reached out on a post and asked for recommendations and was given three different places with high votes. The first one I went to was fine. The vet was more than capable but the front desk staff was like robots. So the second one I went to was Prairie Animal Hospital and honest to goodness, it is everything my last veterinarian's office was, only more busy LOL very engaging staff and doctors. They get back to you they do follow-ups they make room for you in their schedules I mean you know, you're greeted when you first walk in. If I could give him 10 Stars I would.
4/29 update
Prairie animal hospital continues exceed my expectations. I'm there for the life of my pets.
9/24 update
I consider this the absolute top veterinary team in CDA”

“The staff were kind and helpful! They provide walk in nail trimming for ten dollars. My dog’s nails were overgrown. We were in and out within minutes. They took great care of my sweet girl.”

“Amazing staff and so compassionate! I had my kitten neutered today at Pet Savers in the Valley and they seem to have not given a reversal to the sedative. He’s 6.4lbs and about 4-5 months old, the sweetest little grey guy, so energetic and playful- always running around at Mach Jesus speeds and getting into play fights with his brothers Apollo and (blind) Oracle Nugget. I picked him up at 5:45 and he was still completely out and had a little poop coming out. A couple hours later, around 7:40, i noticed his bladder was leaking a constant dribble. I tried holding him over the litter box, but he had ZERO control of himself and just laid limply in my arms. That’s when i called the ER vet in the valley who treated my pup in the past (great people if CDA is full), they told me Pet Savers sometimes don’t give reversal drugs and to call here bc they were unfortunately at capacity.

I spoke to a lovely tech who helped calm me down and give me instructions on what to do. I didn’t give her my or his name, but the second i walked in- despite having a pretty full lobby and all rooms occupied- that same wonderful angel of a human saw me and immediately knew who i was. She basically younked my sweet Grey’Lien out of my arms to check his vitals and make sure he’s okay for the moment.

She came back and advised me that yes, he’s very HEAVILY sedated, but stable and in good health vitals wise. Due to the business, my wait would be long so i could stay in the waiting room and see if he woke up while i waited. We were there about 3.5 hours in total, we did see the vet and he had finally started coming around by then, so the absolutely wonderful Dr Orlando (I’m sorry that’s the only name i remember or asked for, but everyone was so kind and compassionate) advised me that i could take him home and wait it out since Pet Savers didn’t notate what sedatives he was given, at what dosage, or even WHEN it was administered- we would’ve had to try a couple+ different drugs trying to find the one that would actually work for whatever he was given.

We’re home now and he’s doing pretty well, finally in the condition that i expected to receive him in from Pet Savers. I do not recommend that clinic and feel incredibly guilty and like an awful pet parent for trying to take a shortcut on cost vs my normal vet doing the procedure- it wasn’t worth it and it caused my sweet boy so much extra unnecessary suffering and took a massive emotional toll on me, only to end up costing the same as my vet.
However i HIGHLY recommend CDA emergency vet if you’re ever unfortunate enough to need one. They’re amazing and still showed myself and so many others the best service and compassion at such a late hour when it’s really easy to get grumpy that you’re working. I was there between 8:10-11:45pm.”

“Alpine Animal Hospital is such a great vet! I've been a client for 11 years and through the good and the bad they have always treated my girls with the same care and compassion they would give their own pets. Although I'm sure there are other great vets in Coeur d'Alene, I highly recommend Alpine and I know I'll never go any place else.”

“1) Appointments: this place is popular so when a friendly receptionist was able to squeeze in our never-before-seen puppy within a week onto a schedule booked out for a month, we were impressed 2) Cleanliness: the open lobby is pristine for a business dominated by animals and lacks an anticipated smell often associated with such institutions 3) Friendliness: being greeted by staff bearing warm smiles helps to decrease both owner and pet anxiety in what can be a nerve wracking situation 4) Vet techs: professional, knowledgeable and thorough these techs are more helpful than any encountered in other similar establishments we've visited in years past 5) Veterinarians: for reasons unclear to me, perhaps great contracts for the doctors, this place has assembled an All-Star cast of compassionate pet care experts, such as Drs Thrasher and Reese, who are as competent in their life careers as they are caring for owners.”

“We had a medical emergency with our dog but didn't have a veterinarian yet here in Idaho. They saw us immediately and were so kind and caring. unfortunately, our dog was too ill to be helped and had to be put down. They supported us through this difficult day and helped us to say goodbye to our fur baby. I also felt like the pricing was very reasonable. would highly recommend them.”
