“Walking into this shop reminds me of traveling in time to Haight - Ashbery circa 90’s. The decor is all records and there’s a well curated vibe of rarities that speak to you as you peruse. This isn’t a record shop of top 40’s pop. It’s a record store of lived experiences in which as a music lover I feel tells a story of you are willing to listen.
The owner Kirk, a musician knows music as well as his city: San Francisco. Having roots in the Bay we spoke at length about music and the Beatnik scene.
Record shops like this don’t exist as much. There was a famous record shop in Seattle called Buds Jazz records. It was in a basement in Pioneer Square. Anyone who was anyone in the jazz scene went to Bud’s. Spin records reminds me of that place in Boise.
As the selection of records is great, it’s Kirk’s stories and music that really make the experience. Thank you for the Jazz Round Midnight vinyl. It is a beauty.“
