Used to see Dr Jen in West Des Moines years ago and loved her care of my pet rabbit with special needs. Now Dr Kate Siller is the exotics specialist and she has been amazing! She and her team have been fantastic at communicating anything and everything they can in advance of taking our new rabbit (also with complex needs) to see her for some imaging and procedures - and we hadn't even been to their office yet! If I didn't live 45 minutes away she would definitely be my pick for a primary vet for rabbits. Thank you for your patience and attention to details with us, Dr Kate!

Well after talking to several friends about my experience with Dr Mathis In the Norwalk location they told me I need to write a review about my experience, so here it goes. I was referred to Dr Mathis to get teeth extracted on my 13 year old Pomeranian by my local vet due to the fact he has small jaw bones and if anything were to happen they could repair his jaw on location since she specializes in small dogs dentistry. My local vet sent bloodwork and X rays required for Dr Matthis and then her team setup a Zoom call ( $68) told me everything about what will happen costs estimates and asked me about anxiety to which I said he’s the only dog who hates car rides so she wanted him to take anxiety meds provided by her to give before procedure. Well the day before surgery I still had not received the anxiety medication so I called and they forgot so Dr Mathis was driving it out to my home. She arrived with her dog Chewy who played a bit with my dog Yoda and off she went. Surgery was drop off at 8am and I had everything setup prior and decided since everything was handled beforehand, no food after midnight the night before, gave Yoda his anxiety pill my husband said he would drop Yoda off for me. My husband arrived and they didn’t have Yoda on the schedule and my husband called me to tell me the chaos at the drop off and was going to just bring him home because the guy seemed unsure of anything going on so my husband came home and said “ well I don’t think we will see Yoda again, that was chaotic!” I was texting Ann the scheduler and she apologized and said everything was good. Now about 2 hours later I get a call Yoda has been coughing non stop and they think he may have kennel cough which is crazy he has not coughed that entire week and we both work from home so he hasn’t been to a kennel in over a year. She then asks if she can do an additional X Ray to check for trachea damage which is common in Pomeranians and reiterated to always use harnesses which we already knew and he arrived that morning with one on, so another $500 for the X Ray and now I have to pick him up with nothing done. That day into the night we brought him home was horrible, we thought he was going to die because he has always been an energetic happy dog people can’t believe he’s almost 13 and now he’s coughing non stop, peeing everywhere which he has never done and has the whole house to run around even when we leave, we don’t even own a kennel! So he didn’t sleep and neither did we! The worst part is they made me sign a paper saying they aren’t responsible for anything that happens after Yoda leaves, I’ve never heard of that or signed anything like that before and the office NEVER called to see how he was doing but instead said he had a heart murmur which the other vets never said and an enlarged heart so he needs heart meds and then she’d see him again. The worst experience at a Vet I have ever had and hopefully no one experiences the same. Do not recommend this office at all!

Dr. Ryan was so helpful in figuring out what was wrong with my dog and gave so much insight on ways to improve her quality of life. Unfortunately, we did end up losing her unexpectedly, but Dr. Ryan checked in to ensure we were doing okay, which goes to show they not only care for my pets, but also us as owners. The staff here is wonderful and treats your pets as their own. I will continue to use this vet clinic for my cats and trust them entirely with my fur babies.

Fantastic, professional & friendly! My 2-year-old puppy chipped a lower front canine while playing, & she was able to seal & restore it. Not only is my puppy happy, but it looks great & we were able to save the tooth. They were super patient with my questions and I learned a lot! We are very blessed to have such a talented vet dental specialist in Iowa! They treated my dog like she was their own ❤️

Dr. Jen and her team transformed a terrifying and fearful situation into an informative, comfortable, and positive experience for our family. From our first meeting, we knew that we had made the correct decision for our dog's future. Upon our arrival, the team made our dog feel safe and comfortable, which was very important to us. They kept us informed throughout the day on his status. We were thoroughly informed at the time of discharge, and we were comfortable with the plan of care and treatment. I cannot recommend Dr. Jen, her team, and Animal Dentistry Referral Services enough.

Came here a while back with 3 of my cat's. I specifically wanted certain shots for them and stated that to the vets...i then felt like i was dealing with salesmen. The vets kept naming off all these different shots they were trying to sell us. I had to keep denying their request. Finally the head vet lady came in and INSISTED that we get the rabies for them, she started breeding fear into us with rabies stories and how pets can and family members can die from rabies. Well, it worked..we caved and got the rabies shots. My youngest cat had a REALLY bad allergic reaction to the shot. He became very lethargic, body broke out in rashes and neck swelled, little guy couldn't breathe. Luckily he pulled through. Lesson learned: Don't let them bully you into getting shots for your pets that you don't want them to have!!
