Hair Of The Dog receives high praise for their exceptional work with dogs, particularly those that can be challenging to handle. They are commended for their patience and skill in grooming, with a noticeable absence of extra fees for difficult dogs. The business is recognized for its clean environment and the obvious care taken for each dog's wellbeing. Dogs are said to enjoy their visits and leave with haircuts that meet their owners' preferences. Both Nikki and Matt are highly recommended for their attentive and personalized service.
We took our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Sophie, there this morning. We just wanted a shampoo, light trim, nail trim. They did an excellent job. Sophie looked great and they praised her for her good behavior and said she was a real sweetheart. They were very prompt and we are pleased to have them in Grinnell! We made our next appointment for Sophie and look forward to doing business with them in the future. Thank you to the owners!
I could not recommend this business more highly!!! I have been bringing my dogs to Hair of the Dog since moving back to Grinnell in 2021 and have had nothing but the most fantastic experiences with them! One of my dogs is utterly impossible when it comes to nail trims and I can hardly keep track of how many different places, both before moving to Grinnell and since, that have utterly failed at giving him a good nail trim - especially one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg AND have me doing as much wrestling with him as the groomer! The staff at Hair of the Dog, however, have been extremely open to trial and error until we finally figured out the best way to get him in… read full review
The Owners have handled my Pyrenees and Flat Coated Retriever with care. The wash and blow out, as well as nail trims have always left both dogs looking great. My pups have never been injured, handled roughly, or mistreated. My dogs are big and not very cooperative in the grooming process, yet they have handled them very well. Their prices are very reasonable for having to groom large, long haired pups.
