We came here for the Saturday farmers market. I picked up a brochure at the airport and I am so glad we went. People in our group bought food to eat from the Big Island food truck and the Red Barn food truck. The food was delicious and we enjoyed sitting under the shade trees at tables while people and chicken watching. We left with fresh eggs, local beef, homemade focaccia and boule, fresh produce, and some of the most delicious honey I have ever tasted. Loved meeting and talking to local people and supporting local producers.
Paniolo Heritage Center at Pukalani Stables (Waimea, Big Island) is a charming, compact museum that brings Hawaii’s unique cowboy (paniolo) history to life in the very birthplace of the tradition on Parker Ranch. Housed in historic stables, it features an impressive collection of original Hawaiian saddles, vintage bits and spurs, old photographs, and artifacts.
It’s a small but thoughtfully curated center—perfect for a quick, insightful visit (30–45 minutes). A small gift shop allows visitors the opportunity to take home Hawaiian cowboy heritage apparel.
Great small heritage museum that captures the history of the Parker Ranch as well as other large ranches in the islands. Tells the rich history of the Hawaiian cowboy heritage. Enjoyed it very much!
