Queen's North Hawai'i Community Hospital

North Hawaii Community Hospital, an Affiliate of The Queen's Health Systems, is a small 35-bed rural acute care hospital located in Waimea (Kamuela), Hawaii Island. Despite being under resourced and staffed with limited personnel, including more than a dozen employed physicians and dedicated nurses, the hospital provides excellent care. The hospital and its outpatient clinics are supported by over 300 employees who work hard to ensure patients have positive experiences. The emergency department and level III trauma center are praised for their caring and efficient staff, who keep patients informed and comfortable. Patients often report quick and effective treatment, such as wound cleaning and suturing, with short wait times that are rare for small hospitals. The staff, including doctors and nurse practitioners, are caring, detailed, and attentive, making patients feel well taken care of. While the hospital may not handle intensive specialist cases, they do their best within their resources and refer patients to larger centers when needed.
