With full knowledge this is a more off the grid type of stay, it was amazing! The big island and Hawai’i in general has such a rich abundance of nature and beautiful wildlife why not spend your time living amongst it. We stayed at the bamboo cabin, remote feeling but still close to the main house. Be sure to arrive during the day time cause at night it can be tricky (bring a headlamp or flashlight). Otherwise your set, there is a shower (propane heated), toilet (compose) and outdoor kitchen with a hot plate, frig and some really great coffee! We can't really comment on the service, because we arrived late and had to leave very early the next morning. But the Garden Cottage was charming, clean, and very comfortable. We especially loved the outdoor shower. And the setting — on the slope of Hualālai in Kealakekua, with views of the ocean — was positively stunning. We fell asleep to the chirp of a coqui frog and awoke to gentle birdsong. It was a heavenly 12 hours, and we'll definitely stay there again on our next visit to Kona.
This tented site is nicely situated for a relaxed & adventurous getaway on the Kona coast. The tent is roomy with an indoor toilet; the queensize bed is very comfortable; & the outdoor shower is perfect for cleaning up after an adventurous day. The kitchen is very limited, but serviceable, so some creativity is required for meal prepping; & the camp is located in a rainforest, so there will be rain & frogs. All part of the adventure!Nearby activities: Hiking distance from the Captain Cook monument & great snorkelling. Centrally located to explore many of Hawaii’s beaches, volcanos & other attractions.
