I decided to get my haircut while traveling in HNL and I'm so happy to have found Salon Kit and especially, Khiet. The shop is super clean, everyone is very friendly, and Khiet gave great recommendations on not only what to do with my hair, but also where to go while I'm staying here. I absolutely will be going back when I find myself back here!
Kit Luu is hair artist royalty. He is a master at his craft and he is not ever afraid to show it and go for it. He is a straight shooter- he does not sugar coat anything. He takes so much pride in his work that he will call you out if you're not caring for your locks, but always in a loving way. I first saw kit about 8 years ago, before he had his own salon. I credit him for meeting my honey because I met him on a night I had that fresh hair cut glow that only kit can provide... now we have 2 babies, so clearly that went well. :) I feel like we had a massive milestone today, because kit gave my 4 year old daughter her first haircut today.. obvi only the best for my little girl. Basically I only trust kit with my or my daughters hair... he's the best.
Love the vibe. Clean salon. Excellent hair skills. Go to Yuki. Decent parking. Online scheduling!! First off-scheduling! I am one of those people who is awkward on the phone and prefer texting, and it was so easy to book online with Yuki. If you are like me, I recommend this place! Yuki seems to be known for women's hair and coloring, but I went to her for my haircut (men's cut $35). She was so nice with discussing how I wanted my hair style to turn out and we came up with a plan together. I appreciated that she offered her input and recommendations. She's a real artist, not like the other people who just keep asking what specifics you want without any recommendations. She really took her time to make sure the haircut went well and she taught me how to blowdry and style my hair properly. The salon itself is very clean and there's a homey vibe with the wood furniture and plants. It's very calming in the case you get a bit of social anxiety like me. It is located at the 808 center near walmart. As you may or may not know, they have valet parking at the building, but if you want to cheap out (like me), you can park on the street or pick something up at walmart on your way to the salon and park there. This is the place I've chosen to go to for all my styling needs, and I highly recommend you check them out.
