I've been an avid cyclist for years and have ridden in numerous organized rides. The HBL does an amazing job with the Honolulu Century Ride! From the registration to the finish is very organized with a great group of volunteers. This year was my fourth time riding in the Century and ran over a pothole which demolished my rear wheel and ended my ride. I called the phone number on my bib and they made sure I was not injured. They said a car would be coming to pick me up to bring me back to the starting area. The driver who picked me up was a member of Tradewinds and had a great conversation about cycling during the ride. The only problem with the Ride is that the State of Hawaii's Department of Transportation does not take care of the roads. The pothole I hit caused a flat tire and severe damage to another cyclists wheel during my time waiting for the ride back. Hawaii is not a bicycle friendly state since they don't maintain the roads. If you want to participate in a great ride where the organizers are fantastic and scenery is beautiful, ride in the Honolulu Century Ride! I highly recommend it.

Their instructor, Andrew, was incredibly patient and gave each child the attention they needed—yes, even my dramatic son. In less than 10 minutes, both my daughter and son were riding without assistance. I was amazed.

When I first emailed Andrew, I asked if...read full review

Especially during the past year, people have been getting into bicycle riding. HBL is on top of trying to getting better and safer streets for everyone. They have free classes for adults and also have a program in the schools. They have great events and rides for all skill levels. The staff is friendly and helpful. Go check them out!
