This is the first time flying my pet and I was feeling nervous to say the least. My dog is very timid and has separation anxiety and when I say the staff here were super friendly is an understatement. My dog felt very relaxed with them and seemed happy to be there! Any doubts I had about flying a pet were squashed because of the staff that helped me with the process at this location.
The Delta Air Cargo Staff were excellent at handling my very large crate with my motorcycle. I actually shipped by American Air Cargo, who rents small space of the very large Delta warehouse. Everyone in the office was very friendly, and the man who wrestled my crate realized his forklift was too small to handle getting it into my truck. Plus today it was raining. He called another man over with a larger lift, and realized the crate had no "rear load" capability because of its construction. After discussing it, the forklift team brought a longer leftover pallet, loaded my crate upon it, and easily put it in my truckbed. No charge for the extra pallet.Because of the in-and-out rain showers, and the exposed outer cardboard box concealing the crate's contents, the forklift operator brought me a very large plastic sheet to keep my crate's cardboard shell dry. I was so grateful. I offered to tip the operator, but he waved me off and drove away.Later I returned the unused cardboard to a friendly security guard and made sure my man was told of my complete satisfaction. I even went back into the office and thanked the folks in there once again. If I ever need air cargo service again, I'll be sure to contact DELTA AIR CARGO!
Shipped 6 of our cats out of this facility. Great staff and easy process. Hint: Don't ship your pets anytime before 6pm. If the runway temp is 80 degrees or more, which it usually is in Honolulu, they will not ship your pet for safety reasons. We learned the hard way. We had to rebook for late evening flight.
