“I have a right below knee amputation as a result of a landmine in Vietman, 1967. Due to the nature of the wounds, I have had nerve issues with my right stump. I had been able to control them through the years with injections and medication. As I got older, the pain got worse and the only option was surgery. A friend of mine was a Navy fighter pilot with a large number of launches and recoveries on an aircraft carrier. Over time he developed nerve damage in his shoulder and the only relief was medication or recommended surgery. He tried acupuncture and completely recovered from his nerve injury. I booked a consultation with Peachtree, Dr. Mara listened to my problem and assured me they could help my situation. She said it would not be instantaneous, would take some time, but I could expect some relief. I started at 3 times per week in July, each visit was a 100 mile round trip, so not a drive across town. Midway through the fourth week, I realized that I did not have any pain, even when I worked in the yard or did something that would usually cause me a problem. I could not remember when I had any pain. I am now down to once per week. My wife and I have just returned from a 16 day trip to Northern Ireland. We walked anywhere from a mile to 3 miles per day, and I had no problems throughout the entire trip. My quality of life has increased by at least 70%.
