We recently built a new home using Savannah Grey brick for the chimney and started experiencing multiple leaks in the attic tied to the chimney. As anyone who has just built knows, this is the kind of issue that can spiral into major damage and serious expense if not handled correctly.
I reached out to Matt at The Chimney Guy during an extremely busy season. Even though he couldn’t get out immediately, he took the time to walk me through practical steps over the phone to help mitigate the issue in the short term. That alone would have been appreciated.
What really sets Matt apart is what happened next. While he was working in our neighborhood, he stopped by on his own time to inspect the chimney in person. He thoroughly evaluated the situation, identified the true root cause, and spent hours with me on the phone explaining what was happening and how to resolve it properly—even though there was ultimately nothing he personally needed to sell or repair.
When I asked how I could compensate him for his time and expertise, he declined.
