I am a first time home buyer and went through the process of buying a home on my own. My first step in the journey was to get pre-approved and I spoke to several lenders. Kris Thurman from Buckhead Home Loans was one of them. Kris is a broker, so he has the unique ability to find the best rates amongst many companies. What impressed me the most was what Kris told me on our first phone conference, "I can beat anyone's price, but in the small and unlikely chance I can't, I will be the first to tell you to go with the other guy." Originally, I had my own apparent misconceptions about what I should have saved up for a down payment. Kris was the only lender who saw through those misconceptions and advised me in a different direction and made me think about my personal monthly budget. None of the other lenders even asked about my budget. While another lender was responsible for helping me get the contact, I switched to Kris and Buckhead. Kris and his team worked hard to meet the deadlines already set on the contract, they went above and beyond with my appraisal, they kept me updated on their progress and what I needed to do, and they worked well with my chosen realtor. My realtor and attorney even complimented me on choosing Kris. In the end, I stayed within budget, got a higher grant in assistance for being a first time home buyer, and got a rate lower than the current average. If and when I buy again, I doubt I will shop around for another lender. Thank you for everything.
