BLANKENSHIP TRUCK REPAIR FAILED TO COMPLETE THEIR RECOMMENDED REPAIRS AND ABANDONED OUR TRUCK. My charity purchased a flatbed Freightliner to help out in the western NC hurricane recovery when our Ford F-650 had unexpected problems. I took the 2015 truck to Blankenship’s for an inspection. A yellow light illuminated their shop for which they recommended replacement of NOx sensors. Given a pressing pick-up of supplies that had been arranged before the purchase of the new truck, I asked if the repairs were needed immediately given the yellow light. Blankenship’s told me it was ok to drive for now but the repair should be made sooner or later. We drove it for less than a month to complete the previous obligations and then returned it to Blankenship’s for the preventive suggested repairs.

Four of five days later, Blankenship’s advised the truck was repaired and ready. After handing the shop a check for more than the price of the quoted repairs, we went out to take possession of the large flatbed. Upon cranking it, a large red light illuminated on the dash with the words “DO NOT DRIVE”. The truck was shut down and a conversation ensued.

The first excuse for the red DO NOT DRIVE light was that their shop’s software was not updated and it was a simple code issue but that the truck was fine to drive. I told them we were not comfortable with ignoring the red warning and to please resolve the issue. We left assuming they would step up and make it right…..but I was wrong.

When the shop foreman returned, he told me to take it to a Freightliner dealer that could resolve the problem….and that it was fine to drive it with the red light.

I called Freightliner which contradicted everything the shop stated.

For the sake of brevity, I’ll cut this short. In the end, Blankenship refused to complete the repairs. Cummins told me that Blankenship’s had no business making repairs to the truck without proper tools and updated software and that we were correct to not drive the truck (which is still loaded with building supplies). To complicate matters, Blankenship decided to relocate their shop within a week of our dispute and left the truck stranded at their old location along with our broken-down F-650. I am told the two trucks were impounded but not sure where. We are in the process of hiring counsel. Both Freightliner and Cummins had nothing positive to share about Blakenship’s. More to follow at a later date.

Bob is very disrespectful I have spent thousands of dollars with this shop. He pretty much got mad with me because I wanted to know how much was the total in parts. He told me if I needed the price for studs and nuts then he didn’t need to be wasting his time talking to me. That’s very disappointing because if it’s my money paying the bills I should know everything I want to know. So yes BOB to me you are a crook and for that I do not recommend no one to this shop and they should replace you asap. I have receipts. It’s so hard trusting people to treat you fair and you finally show your true colors.

Do not take your truck here... my truck has been here a month and a half ... I dropped it off telling them I had a blown head gasket the man up front Bob said ok we will look at it... Long story short I went back 3 time's and they never even did it... But charged me like they did... Then the owner is does not care at all I been reaching out to Kelly and he always has a excuse... All the people that recommend me to the this shop are no longer customers because of how they treated me...

Let me just start by saying that a standard rating from me is 4 stars and a place has to earn that 5th. They did earn it. They did exactly what I asked. They found a air leak that freightliner couldn't find and fixed it and didn't try to sell me a rear main seal (that I do need) in the process. They were very accommodating, friendly, professional. I will use them any time in the area. I also have a dog and the mechanic left the door open and she jumped out and came to find me so they let her sit in the office with me.
