I recently purchased a lime and lemon tree from Pokey's Citrus Nursery and the experience was exactly what you hope for—but rarely get anymore.
This is a true, family-run operation. Not polished, not corporate—and that’s the point. You’re dealing with people who have been doing this for decades, not someone reading from a tag or repeating generic advice.
What stood out most was the depth of knowledge. I didn’t get surface-level instructions—I got real, practical guidance on planting, watering, and fertilizing citrus in Florida conditions. The kind of insight that comes from years of experience, not a training manual.
They explained things in a way that actually makes sense once you think about it—like keeping the root structure healthy in sandy soil, avoiding overwatering, and feeding consistently through the growing season. It’s clear they understand how these trees behave long-term, not just how to sell them.
If you’re looking for a big retail experience, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for people who know what they’re doing and are willing to share it honestly, this is exactly the place.
Hard to find businesses like this anymore. Glad I made the trip.

Outstanding knowledge, fabulous fruit trees and grapes. They make their own fertilizer and it definitely works better than store bought. Highly recommend! Goi g back for more grapes tomorrow!

Everyone said I have to go to Pokey's for fruit trees and holy cow they were right! Don't even consider getting florida fruit trees anywhere else. Excellent prices and unbelievable knowledge. I guess 60 years in the business will do that

We've had some good luck with purchases from Pokey's, but a Sambokan Sweet Lemon tree produced inedible pithy fruit. We took one of the lemons back to show them, expecting a replacement. Instead we got a bogus response suggesting it was our fault the tree had bad fruit - an no apology. That's it for us!

First class operation that’s larger than it appears from the front. Dealt with Bruce, a fantastic gentleman and Air Force veteran of 22 years. His wealth of knowledge about foreign and domestic citrus is unmatched. As a beginner in growing citrus, Bruce was the best person I could’ve encountered. He is an absolute expert in Florida citrus and beyond.
Not sure how to call the prices. Although they’re more expensive than the big box places (Home Depot, Lowe’s), the customer service and sharing knowledge more than made up for the difference in price.
I’d recommend if you’re serious about gardening and like supporting local - this is your place.
Be sure to ask for my guy Bruce.

Today I had the pleasure to meet with Susie, Pokey and Bruce. They have a great variety of citrus trees! Their trees are very healthy and simply beautiful. The amount of knowledge that the owners have is incredible and I truly trust them. They also use a very good for fertilized based on the periodic table solely which is very organic! It was such a wonderful experience picking out all the trees for our backyard today. Loved meeting them and supporting them. Highly recommend!

Pokey is always helpful with the vast variety of plants he grows. Got a question or need a suggestion, he has the knowledge and experience to get you a successful planting. Hot time for a little local history, he can entertain you while you mull over the pla t decisions. The prices are good, variety is good, the atmosphere and customer service are good as well. I have been coming here for years for my citrus, stone and other fruit trees, never disappointed.

He's been great. Bought an Olive Tree in 2019 that's still going strong. Picked up a Cherry Tree today. Coming back for Guava in December.
