I had hurricane impact windows installed in front a couple years ago. I was preparing finish the install in the back when my area got hit with Milton. I got light damage but I saw what the tornadoes did to my neighbors. Entire impact windows were ripped right out of the concrete - and they're pricey. I'm looking at retirement soon and don't need the fight with panels so I looked for accordians for the back. Hurricane Shutter Florida (aka: Empire Construction) had a simple site with how-to videos and fair prices. If you know your way around a tape measure and a concrete drill, I recommend these folks. We purchased 8 sets of Bertha HVI Accordion shutters in an assortment of sizes in April 2025. We were told it would take 4 weeks. At 2 weeks we were told they were ready to ship!
Evelyn was our contact with Empire. She got us a quote immediately, once we provided the sizes. She was so accommodating when we needed to make some adjustments. Any time we contacted Evelyn she was able to answer any questions we had expediently.
She arranged for the shipping of our shutters as well. We had to change the delivery site and she coordinated that for us as well. The shutters came shrink wrapped and labeled as to which window they were for. The bill of lading was...read full review
Highly Recommended!! Great people to work with, spent the time working with me to get the measurments correct. Instructions and installation were easy for DIY person. Now we have the peace of mind the next time the storm hits our area.
Update after hurricane Milton. It was so nice being able to crank down the shutters as the rest of the neighborhood was putting up their shutters. After the storm just cranked them back up. Well worth the investment. Highly recommended!!!!
