This is long, but worth the read-especially if you’re about to call ARS. ARS installed our Carrier mini split system just four years ago. Since then, it’s been nothing but scare tactics, inflated quotes, and constant misdiagnoses. Every few months, the system would throw errors. First it was the control board, then the compressor, then they told us we’d be better off replacing the entire system they installed new 4 years ago. One time they said it was a burned-up wire and quoted a full replacement… then the system magically worked two days later for 5 more months. Guess the wire healed itself? Finally fed up, we called a licensed third-party HVAC company. They replaced both control boards (OEM), which fixed the communication issue, and confirmed the compressor was bad- and under warranty. We told the company we just want to have ARS come out and get a price and see whats what.They got the compressor diagnosis right… but then tried to charge us for a brand-new inverter board that had been replaced HOURS earlier. Their quote was $2,289, “discounted” to $1,831.We ended up paying the other company $1,700 TOTAL — boards, compressor, labor, and actual honesty. I wouldn’t even be surprised if ARS sold us junk parts to begin with. That much failure in 4 years? Not normal. This isn’t just bad service. It’s price padding and pressure sales pretending to be repair work. Our AC is now working perfectly. We hired the other company and they came back out and installed the compressor. Get a second opinion. Get your receipts. And keep ARS far away from your system.
