yester I went for my 2nd annual whole body visual scan with Dr Manuel H Hernandez. I was attended to by a female medical assistant who gave me a gown and told me to strip down into it. As I was undressing, Dr Hernandez came into the room and stated that his female assistant was needed in the room during the exam to take notes. He said, if I couldn't accept this, then I needed to find another Dermatology Doctor. I was stunned. This was the most unprofessional and callous treatment I ever encountered in all my 72 years of life. For over the past 50 plus years, I had 3 previous male dermatologist and each of them understood my self consciousness, that I wasn't comfortable with a female gawking my genitali, taking notes while the doctor did a visual exam. All my physicians, GP, Cardiologist, Orthopedic, etc, always respected my self consciousness and privac. That's what Good Doctors do. Not like some self indulgent hypocrite who doesn't consider his patients feelings... Dr. Manuel H Hernandez gets a ZERO for a rating!!!

Do not go to this doctor. I went to have skin cancer on my leg removed and he cut the wrong area where I didn't have any skin cancer. Then stating he was going to bill my insurance for a biopsy so he can be paid. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for your medical treatment. Larry Esposito

This guy is not good for any patient with hard questions.Things started off on the wrong foot immediately because I didn't remember the name of the dermatologist I had last seen - it was several years ago and I only saw him once. Dr. Hernandez repeatedly said to me "You can't remember?" (that didn't make me feel good) and he acted like I was lying!I had an area he wanted to remove and biopsy. I asked some questions about the pros and cons, and he didn't seem to like me asking! Later, when they called back with the biopsy results I had a simple question about how often I should come in and have my skin checked. They put Dr. Hernandez on the phone to answer my questions and he told me "as needed". I asked for some clarity on that and he became antagonistic and said I could look up general guidelines on a website! However, for another patient. I happen to know that he said to come in once a year.The final surprise? Right after I paid the remainder of my bill, he sent me a "Discharge Notice" saying he would not treat me further except for 30 days if there was a life-threatening emergency! Also, that he won't release my records to me, only another Dermatologist. I wasn't planning to ever go back again anyway, but still it struck me as very aggressive and rude.Other reviews express similar comments about Dr. Hernandez; wish I had read them before seeing him. See Dan dee Smith. Dan thinks that Dr. Hernandez lacks self-confidence, which might explain his arrogance, aura of high self-regard and his highly controlling behavior. Whatever is driving his aggressive nastiness, it is something to be aware of if you threaten this king of his office with any questions outside of what he deems acceptable.

Excellent, professional, knowledgeable, caring. I did read a couple of negative reviews but you can tell that the two persons that posted them are very controversial and probably have issues, I'm sure with anyone anywhere they go.

After being a patient of this doctor, you will wish ALL of your doctors were like him! He is the most patient-oriented, professionally excellent physician I have seen. Being an (unfortunately) experienced consumer of dermatology services, he is tops---especially for the high-end procedures like Mohs surgery. In addition, his staff is always personable, efficient, and expert at what they do. Lastly, he is VERY unusual in that he makes himself available for patient emergency calls 23/7. I just hope he doesn't burn out!

Not impressed with this doctor at all. He's not comfortable enough with himself to allow a critical thinking patient to have an objective discussion with him. I challenged conventional thinking, contradictory medical cancer studies and he took it personal. In fact he was so uncomfortable with this patient acknowledging reality that he lost sight of the fact that he runs a "practice" ! So uncomfortable, insecure and threatened that he suggested I go elsewhere...... so I did.Not sure if that's grounds for a complaint With the Florida bord of medicine but I'll find out. My health is my responsibility and I have a right and a obligation to question contradicting advice.I don't care what kind of degree you hold. So I guess if you're the type of person that sits down -shuts up and takes orders, he may be your guy. However, if you like to ask educated questions with reasonable expectations of getting answers, anecdotal may they be, this likely isn't your guy.I'm a cash paying patient so prior to my appointment I asked for the cost and was quoted $130, subsequently charged over $180. Perhaps asking questions with the doctor is extra?Just an observation on my part. I noticed the last 2 Google reviews sound suspiciously similar almost robotic. Including addressing comments that don't exist. Paid reviews? I can assure you this is a real review

Dr Hernandez is the most skilled and conscientious doctor I have ever met. His office is well run, he is a skilled surgeon and treats his patients and staff with respect and courtesy. I highly recommend him.
