Responding to the commercials on TV for a $99 job I called Sears to clean out the ducts in our newly purchased home, which had just been gut-renovated, so I knew there would be lots of dust in the vents. They arrived on time and appeared to do a decent job on cleaning out the ducts. Unfortunately I let them talk me into replacing the UV light on the system, which looked old and was hanging at an angle. When they were done and turned the system back on, it started to freeze up, so we turned it off and let the ice thaw. They could not get it re-started. They called their boss, who told me he would have an HVAC company come out ASAP to fix the problem. That was the next day, and it took several hours for them to diagnose and fix the problem. The HVAC guy told me that he gets a lot of business this way, cleaning up after the Sears crew. Sears did pay for the HVAC, so all it cost me was a day, but I really needed that day to do other things. And now 8 months later the UV light they installed is hanging loose. Bottom line: let them clean your vents, but don't let them near your AC system. They are NOT HVAC pros.

Does Sears even exist anymore? My elderly mother likes to think she's independent but is constantly getting scammed by shiftless criminals who prey on old people by using the brand names they trust and remember from the 70's. This is one such scam. These scumbags came to her house saying they'd clean the air ducts for $99 and 2 hours later they presented her with a bill for over two thousand dollars--and the vents haven't been cleaned in even a cursory manner. They didnt even try to make it seem like work had been done. The number they list for you to call and explain the fraudulent charges is manned by officious Jamaicans trying to hide their accents. This must be a training ground for when they start scamming these same old people out of their homes and social security checks--no doubt the "technicians" are just there to case the place for valuables. As usual, there is nowhere to turn to when old people get scammed. The "Better Business Bureau"--another name from the past that you were supposed to trust-- just tells me to call the federal trade commission, which is an answering machine that will never get back to you. Do yourself a favor and check out YouTube videos on how to clean vents yourself--or go check out companies that don't pretend to be affiliated with defunct pre-internet institutions. Also--change your locks and your credit card numbers when you realize you've been scammed. Florida should be at the forefront of combatting elder abuse but concentrates it's efforts only on lining the pockets of corrupt politicians. This is absolutely disgraceful...

Beware! Sears now is a scamming company. And a really bad one. They came up with this $199 for duct cleaning and ended up charging $2k. They installed a 2k UV lamp that costs no more than 50 bucks with the explanation it would kill the mold and...nothing! We will fight this one back and will most definitely lawyer up.

I called Sears to come and clean the ductwork in my house I have a three bedroom two bath home. They canceled out on me the first appointment then they came the next day. The technician went to one of my vents in the living room and held up some kind of indicator that said I had a lot of bacteria coming out of the vent. The man said he could not clean out my duct work there was too much bacteria in there. He never even let me look at this indicator before he tested it for bacteria. What a scam all these $99 specials are a bunch of BS. I do not recommend Sears to come out to your house and give you an estimate to clean your ductwork what a disappointment

Scammers! I trusted that Sears would still be an honest company but it is not. They quoted $199 for duct cleaning and came up with some insane charges for a UV light to kill mold for 2k that is worth no more than 50 bucks. We will take action against these robbers.

On the 20th of July 2023, Sears came to clean the air ducts in my home. I saw the advertisement on television stating $99 for air duct cleaning. I was prepared to pay a little extra just in case. To my dismay and utter shock, they charged me $4273. They said I had mold in my AC unit. Should it really have costs that much?

Unbeknownst to me, they did not take out the coil from under the unit to clean it nor did they clean the blower but on the receipt, it states they cleaned everything. They charged me $325 for that. The UV lights to kill the mold, they charged $645 each. Another $800 for something else. The reviews from other customers are depressing.

My family and I have been to urgent care 5 times since.

I called them 10 times to complain about the funny smell coming out the vents and the fact the job wasn’t done properly. The last call to the customer service lady Jaimie was at 1:48 December 12,2023 I was recording the conversation for proof. She mentioned they would have to do a
    redo before a refund.

Then she stated the manager will be calling me now. I am still waiting for that call. I called Thursday February 22 , 2024 and spoke to the supervisor Samantha Lee, she said to send an email with all the information and receipts with pictures. After a week I received an email stating the regional office will be contacting me. I never received an email or call from sears regional office. I emailed them myself with the photos. Still NOTHING!!!. I have sears on camera from my home only scrubbing the vents and nothing more. They sprayed them white afterwards but that’s the only thing they actually cleaned. The mess they left behind on my floors not to mention him continuously using my bathroom and leaving a filthy mess for us to clean , is enough to make you very angry.

I have copies of the receipt and pictures of the coil and blower. All I want is my refund. That way I can find a respectable AC repair man/woman and be mold free and healthy once and for all.I've reported them to BBB, every news investigate channel and Yelp. They need to be held accountable for their incompetence and scamming!
I cannot believe ESL Investments and Transform SR Brands LLC who owns sears now isn’t aware of the scamming or reads these reviews!!!! REFUND NOW!
