Anyone who is struggling with addiction needs assistance. It's not the sort of thing you should try to do on your own. Alcoholics Anonymous is free and readily available all over Broward (something like 800 meetings every week), and this is the central office/gift shop where everything happens. I've been coming here for years, ever since they moved up from their old location in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Now they're in Oakland Park, just northwest of the Lowe's. Because of the virus, they have changed their hours and their policy. When you get there the door will be locked. You have to knock to be admitted and they only allow one customer at a time. Fortunately, it's never crowded, so you'll get in. They carry books, cards, medallions, bumper stickers and everything else you could need. They also have quite an array of gay-themed merchandise, which I found refreshing. I've added a picture of one of their very colorful medallions. The people who work here are always very nice and extremely helpful. The prices are reasonable, and aren't set by the store, they come from the national office in New York. But nothing is exorbitant. And it's for a good cause; helping people to get sober in our community.
