I cannot recommend Downtown Hair Lounge enough, especially Kate Crawford.
The salon itself is absolutely beautiful—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed, with toys and a kid-friendly environment that immediately puts children at ease.
Kate is truly exceptional. She specializes in cutting hair for neurodivergent children and kids with sensory processing disorders, and it shows in everything she does. She was incredibly patient, flexible, and loving with our son. She followed his lead completely—cutting his hair while he sat, stood, walked around, or played with toys—never rushing him and never forcing anything.
Her calm presence, kindness, and genuine care made what is usually a stressful experience into a positive one for our entire family. It is rare and deeply meaningful to find professionals who are this inclusive and understanding.
We are so grateful to have found Kate and this salon. I 100% recommend Downtown Hair Lounge to any family, especially those with neurodivergent children.

Had thee best experience we just moved here a few months ago and couldn’t find a place that my 4 year old was comfortable at until we found amber. Quick easy and super comfortable(: plus affordable. Would 100% recommend

As a first timer and being nervous about trimming my grown out hair for more than a year, Amber handled it like an absolute professional. From advice on how to treat my longer hair, and talking me through why it behaves certain ways, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Definitely a main stay.

U can’t find another salon like this! I literally drive 2 hours one way for my kids haircuts, my son has autism and Amber is always so patient and loving with him ? We always feel welcome and everyone is so friendly. Not to mention the salon itself is super dope! Will forever be our #1 go to

Sadly never got to experience this place and now feel exiled. Just moved to the area and so my number filters out texts from FL sometimes. I didn't realize my appointment was set for a day that I am working. My confirmation text was sent from a different number than the one stating I would need to PAY A RESCHEDULING FEE on top of my haircut. I never confirmed with the confirmation text and when I called and explained the person I spoke to was in no way emphatic to me and acted like I should've known better? As someone who's still getting settled moving to New Port Richey this hurt and is why I feel exiled. Bad business tactics. Lost what would've been a long time regular. Hire more understanding people. Oh she also said she had no one else scheduled for the day when I only scheduled a haircut, nothing fancy. So she tried to guilt trip me as well. Accept walk ins and that will fix whatever issue you had to speak to me the way you did. Please go somewhere else esp if you are new to town.

I love it here!! Amber is the best! I can't imagine going to any other salon! Everyone there makes makes you feel right at home!! Highly recommend!!

I came in early and as I was waiting for my haircut, I watched Amber miraculously cut a young boys hair who definitely did not want to be there. He was kicking and crying and even playing on his tablet and Amber still managed to give this young boy a perfect haircut in 5-6 minutes. The rest of the salons staff treated me so well, I honestly felt like I was at home even though it was my first time there. I can’t recommend Amber and downtown hair lounge any more!
