Service was so slow. Had to ask to have a waiter help us. Had to flag him down for drink refills and to order. We planned to order more, including desert but after a 20-30 min wait, we gave up and waved him down for the check. Also, nothing for bday celebrations eve though they knew it was a bday (not mad about that if that's typical but for other's info)
I don't mind a loud place, especially when it's meant to be a lively place like Margaritaville. But, the inside dining area was empty except for one table full of people when we arrived. So, where does the hostess seat us? Right next to that table. I was immediately turned off when a woman at the next table (who had a few people who appeared to be over served) started screaming curses in some sort of personal rant. It went on for a few minutes, until we got fed up a moved to a booth across the room. Besides the rocky start, we enjoyed our food & drinks, and our waitress was very attentive, but this Margaritaville location lacked the fun atmosphere of the other locations...read full review
I know every Miami local likes to knock Bayside as a tourist trap and I'm sure eating at a chain restaurant should warrant some further shame, but I personally like a fun night out at Bayside for people watching and a reliable, decent meal. And the Margaritaville is a great option for a variety of menu choices at a reasonable price and fun people watching in the heart of Bayside right by the Ferris wheel. I recommend either sitting outside if the weather is good (although know it might be a bit on the louder side, if nighttime) or upstairs by the window for a great view and a little more quiet. Trey provided great service welcoming us to Margaritaville, updating us on our order when they were a little backed up, and giving me his advice when I was torn between two dishes. They were quite busy but honestly I didn't think stuff came out any slower than any other busy restaurant in the city. We started off with the Cajun shrimp dish, which was a new appetizer. It was so good! Very creamy, lots of shrimp, great crunch from the peppers/veggie, and served with very tasty focaccia bread. For dinner, I had the Cajun seafood pasta (can you tell I was on a Cajun kick?), also a new item. Similarly, really great flavor and lots of shrimp - they did not skimp! The portion was really generous, I took almost half of it home to have later as another meal. My husband had the jambalaya- also so good with lots of seafood/meat and legitimately spicy! I know the menu describes it as spicy, but usually chain restaurants go light on spice, so I was impressed! Drinks I will say are a little pricey, but they're generous pours. Also, check out their new, revamped rewards program - you can get a free app! Johnny, the manager, came and helped us out with applying that since it's a new program - very friendly and gave us some insight on the new menu items/updates when we told him how much we liked the new Cajun items and jambalaya. Definitely check out Margaritaville, even if you're both a bayside and chain restaurant skeptic - you'll have a good time, trust me!
