Good place to get some exercise no matter what the weather

If you are considering joining this gym for the black card perks, please read first. I enjoy the perks, tanning, massage chairs etc. The only issue is, their system is down every single weekend. That's not an exaggeration either, every weekend there is a sign on the check in for the black card perks that says the system is down. Knowing that, I typically wait for the weekdays to use it. However, even that has become a challenge as of late. I really want to like this Gym, but I see no reason to pay the extra for the perks, when they honestly only work about 40% of the time.

Updating my review* I've been coming here for a year now. Staff is friendly and they rearranged the area so there is more space to stretch which is great! Only issue is that, later in the night, paper towels tend to be out. I wish this location was 24 hours every day too. Other than that, great place to work out.

Customer Service Needs Serious Improvement

The Planet Fitness location in Lake Wales falls short where it matters most: customer service, professionalism, and staff attitude.
While the facility itself is adequate, the overall experience is consistently undermined by unprofessional interactions and a noticeable lack of engagement from the staff. Basic customer service expectations—acknowledgment, helpfulness, and a respectful attitude—are often missing. Instead, interactions can feel dismissive or indifferent, which is disappointing for a gym that prides itself on being welcoming and judgment-free.
I’ve visited multiple Planet Fitness locations across Central Florida, and this location stands out for the wrong reasons. A gym environment should feel supportive and approachable; unfortunately, that’s not the case here.
With improved training, accountability, and a more professional approach from staff, this location could be much better. As it stands, it needs significant improvement to meet the standard set by other Planet Fitness clubs.

I visited the Lake Wales Planet Fitness on the 23rd-24th of December, 2025, and my experience was the best. These two days, the ambassador was Sheila, and she is the best. So I wish a Merry, Merry Christmas to Sheila. You have a wonderful day, and again, thanks.

Walked into the gym this evening and was greeted “by name” by the guy working this evening. He greeted me by name before I was even checked in which I think is an AMAZING ! It shows attention to detail and fantastic customer service. I want to also add that the 2 women that have been working here for at least the last year are awesome as well. They are always kind and welcoming. The gym looks great and I love the new equipment additions in the recent weeks. Gym is always clean when I’m here. I think ALL staff that are currently working here at the Lake Wales location deserve a GREAT JOB and recognition !

I have been a member since 2017. Moved from Ohio to Florida and made Lake Wales my gym. I have been so aggravated that the spa area has been closed more than it has been opened. We pay for this and never get to use it!!! I think the membership deserves a refund for this constant inconvenience .

Seems like the black card room is always having technical problems, only 1 toilet is open in the men’s rooms, they keep closing the larger one, open for one day then closed for weeks and repeat..

What's wrong with planet fitness employees ?? What happened to non judgment zone?? We can't grunt but yall can laugh at a customer? Make it make sense. Its even crazier they don't have to
Wear name tags. So dark curly hair works about 5pm weekdays has a bad attitude and looks
Smug. RUDE! Management here is terrible!!
