Great Clips

I've been going to Great Clips for many years. It is the best place to get hair cuts. I would recommend it to everyone. Friendly and talented staff and a clean shop.

TL;DR - The stylist I usually trust to cut my hair no longer works here. Paula took me, laughingly dismissed everything I said regarding how my previous stylist did my hair, cut my hair completely dry and missed so many spots I had to correct her 3 times. I still found uneven cuts and long strands of hair she missed after I got home. I called to speak to a manager and she was the one who answered the phone and told me no manager was available until Monday. I am not letting Paula cut my hair again and no longer recommend this location.

All the details:
I made an appointment and when I arrive I asked for my usual stylist. I was told they had no idea who that person was, and she no longer worked there. Which one is it? You don’t know her or she left? I was apprehensive about letting someone else cut my hair and the rest of the staff there didn’t seem too concerned about my reservations. Paula thought it was funny but had curly hair and said she had cut all kinds of hair for years and knew what she was doing.

I told her I have 2B type hair and my previous stylist cut it like you cut curly hair because you cannot cut straight hair, wavy hair and curly hair the same way. Paula kept making faces and laughingly dismissed everything I said. She said hair is hair and you cut it all the same while proceeding to spritz the crown of my head a few times and then lightly spray some other product on my hair. She did not wet my hair down at all. Instead, she started to cut my hair completely dry.

I know from experience, you don’t cut my hair dry. It moves too much, the cuts are uneven and you cannot accurately tell where your guide lines are. I asked her if she was going to cut my hair dry and she dismissively said yes to make sure she didn’t trim too much off. By this point she had thoroughly demonstrated that I couldn’t tell her anything cause she knew everything. And sure enough, she kept missing places and pieces of my hair were uneven. I had to point out at least 3 different places she missed or it was uneven. Not once did she apply any water to my hair to make sure she didn’t miss a spot or pull it down to measure it or even step back to check her work. She also didn’t give me a mirror to let me check the back while I was there. I was so disgusted with her dismissive, arrogant attitude, I paid just to get away from her.

When I called a few hours later to talk to a manager, Paula unfortunately was the one who answered the phone. She notably hesitated to reply when I politely asked for a manager. She finally said no manager was there and they wouldn’t be in until Monday.

I’ve been going to Great Clips for years and I’ve never had a “stylist” that terrible in both attitude and skill level. She needs to be retrained in both how to cut hair and basic customer service. I no longer recommend this location as long as she is there with that attitude.

It helps to have a wait list and I like it that they have my haircut on file so they know what to do without them asking and they've always done a really good job.

Checked in online gave the employee my name and sat down for all of three minutes before I was called to the back. Summer was the name of the young lady that did my hair and she did a fantastic job. I’ll be coming back again.

Skipped in line over priced

Always have a great experience in the he Lake Wales salon. Love Martha. But have seen others too who are always pleasant.

I always go to this location. Normally get a different stylist and am always satisfied with the cut and service.
