Paul Arellano, L.Ac. at Dragon Rises is the best practitioner of Chinese Medicine I have ever seen. After years of terrible seasonal allergies, his treatments and herbal medicine recommendations are working. He also helped me to get to the cause of anxiety/insomnia, and treated it. I've tried many different CAM approaches to both allergies and anxiety/insomnia. Paul's approach worked.

Dragon Rises is the first place I have ever tried acupuncture. I was skeptical, because I had been to several traditional doctors for issues with vertigo, difficulty with sleeping and difficulty with bowel movements. With just 5 treatments with Lori Pallais, my acupuncturist, I must say I am now a believer in eastern medicine and acupuncture etc. Lori Pallais is great. She is great with communicating, and just after the first 3 treatments, my vertigo is completely healed, I fall asleep faster, and wake up way less than I used to. I used to wake up 4-5 times throughout the night every night for several years, I now wake up once a night or sometimes I sleep completely through the night. I used to have a bowel movement once per week, but only after taking a laxative. Now I have a bowel movement at least 5 days a week. I had also suffered with shoulder pain for the last 15 years due to a motorcycle accident. After just 5 treatments, my shoulder pain is gone. I can't express enough how thankful I am for Lori Pallais and Dragon Rises for taking the time to work on all of my physical issues that were majorly affecting my sleep and everyday life. Thank you Lori for helping to restore my health and for helping me get better nights sleep. You were able to fix in just 5 treatments what western medicine doctors have not been able to do in 10 years. All of the doctors I have went to, have just given me prescriptions which never really helped and at best just put a bandaid on the real issues, but you were able to get to root cause and heal the areas of the body that needed healed to give me back my life and mobility. If you are considering going to Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine I think you should reconsider and look elsewhere. I recently applied and tried to transfer from another school. The admissions would rarely respond to my emails, didn't do what was needed to progress my application for enrollment, and refused to answer simple questions about transfer of credits over many requests. My overall experience is that the school seems understaffed and not well managed which makes me wonder about the Quality of the Administration and School in general. I would also be concerned that the school will close while I am a student and I would have a large loan debt to owe and have wasted years of my life. Many TCM schools go under recently do to COVID and inflation etc. I can't see how a school who can't manage an application judiciously can stay in business or actually be a good school. Leon Hammers absence since his passing is clearly seen in my opionion.

Every student acupuncturist that treated me and the supervising professor, Al, took their time to understand my health concerns and treat them. Moxibustion relieved dysmenorrhea pain for the first time ever. Herbal supplements for energy issues and sleep disturbance.
They advised me something was seriously wrong with my kidney(s)---from the tongue exam conducted every visit. I just had adrenal gland and adrenal tumor removal surgery today, and my major health issues are starting to extremely slowly go away (diastolic BP of a teenager, mental acuity returning and nerves I thought permanently damaged are regaining sensitivity). This tumor manifests in rare cases as a pulmonary embolism without causation, and I've had 2 pairs of PE 18 months apart without causation.
***Please don't think they work magic or can solve major health issues regularly, BUT pairing Eastern medicine with Western medicine provided direction and guidance. It's already restoring my quality of life---and may very well have saved my life.***
