I buy 5% lidocaine off Amazon and put on a thick layer an hour before my appointment and then cover it with plastic wrap. Get the one that people typically use for tattoos. In some areas where I didn’t put as much I felt some pain, but tolerable, definitely wayyyyy less than without it, and in other areas where I put more I felt nothing, almost fell asleep.

And your skin will be red and very irritated right after. It should look 90% better a few hours later or the next day, and then it’ll heal another day or two later, and then dull scabbing for a few days more. Each week I’m cleared up by my next appointment and the recovery gets quicker every time.
