About Boca Emergency Veterinary Center

Calusa Veterinary Center is a 24/7, 365 day-a-year clinic offering emergency care, boarding, grooming, and pet food. The clinic is highly regarded for its exceptional veterinary care. Staff, including Dr. Dermott, Dr. Soucy, Dr. Turkell, and Alexa, are praised for their dedication and knowledge. The clinic's receptionists also receive high marks for their exceptional patient relations and attention to detail. The hospital looks more like a spa, and every single employee was just so empathetic to our feelings and concerns. Dr. Ranade is an orthopedic surgeon who fixed a pet and was compassionate, working with them financially and making them feel comfortable. The care, knowledge, support and confidence from all of them was nearly tangible. They offer amazing care along with competitive pricing that is more affordable than other local emergency vet offices.

PSA: SAVE CALUSA VET’S PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS INTO YOUR PHONE AND LOVED ONES PHONES ASAP!! Though we pray our furry babies will never need emergency care, it is our duty to be prepared for the unexpected with a trusted veterinary center. Dr. Soucy, the nurse, and their team all worked diligently to stabilize my baby. The care, knowledge, support and confidence from all of them was nearly tangible. I would trust Dr. Soucy, Dr. Turkell, and the nurse with my human life. As a student who cannot afford pet insurance, I added CALUSA to my emergency care list knowing they offer amazing care along with competitive pricing that is more affordable than other local emergency vet offices. CALUSA VET IS OPEN 24/7!! Last night my 3.5 pound Pomeranian slipped and hit his head. His tongue turned blue and body shut down instantly upon impact. I immediately began CPR with rescue breaths while dad drove us to CALUSA. Dad called them to provide an ETA and basic injury info (while I continued CPR) so that they could prepare for our arrival. The receptionist answered our call right away and notified the CALUSA team. Upon arrival, the receptionist led us directly to the team where they instantly began to work on stabilizing my baby. We were at Calusa from 10PM - 1AM, receiving updates as they came, until my baby was stabilized and kept overnight for further care. My entire body was shaking. The receptionist reassured us our baby was receiving the best care and helped me calm down to begin the paperwork. In moments like these, when your mind and body are overloaded in a state of shock/desperation/despair/confusion, these simple gestures help you take hold of your bearings (at least a little). Overall, my baby was not breathing on his own and arrived in the nick of time. They successfully brought my baby back to life! I hope my experience emphasized the importance of having an emergency plan and learning HOW + WHEN to administer pet CPR. I do not wish my experience on ANYONE! Be prepared — each SECOND makes all the difference in a life or death situation. You must do your part to allow God and the doctor/nurse to do their part. I LOVE CALUSA VETERINARY CENTER! LOOK NO FURTHER!

Having two senior dogs I spend a lot of my time at Calusa Veterinary Center. My chi mix has to get fluids every week for her kidneys so I interact with everybody a lot. The women at the front desk and the dog food desk are amazing and are always pleasant and helpful when I come in. While my pitbull is very low-key, my chi mix is high strung yet she is very comfortable with Alexa and Dr. Dermott. . Alexa and Dr Dermott are always willing to listen, and I never feel rushed when I am with them. Lastly, I have to give a shout out to Anthony who has the unenviable task of giving Gracie her fluids. He has a calming effect on her and I never worry when I hand Gracie over to him. Really everybody there is professional and you should feel very comfortable and confident bringing your pet there.
