Joining Equinox Sports Club DC has genuinely changed my lifestyle for the better. The environment is refreshing, motivating, and makes it easy to stay consistent and prioritize wellness.

A special thank you to Lindsay Smith from Membership Team for making the process feel so seamless and welcoming. If it wasn’t for her guidance and encouragement, I probably wouldn’t have been able to break out of my old routine. I was at the point of not going forward until she warmly invited me to see the gym and explained how can it transform your lifestyle. Truly grateful for the experience so far.

06/21/2026 Update: The gym is showing its age. Equipment, including multiple treadmills, sandbags, and massage guns, need to be replaced. The squash courts are never used and should be converted to new weight training areas. The gym would definitely benefit from a makeover. Where is the general manager?

Original Post: My personal trainer is Andrew Stoner and he is the best trainer I have worked with. He is friendly and a great communicator. After developing a game plan together, he corrected a bad hip flexor in a short amount of time and his regimen has given me newfound flexibility, strength, and improved posture. I can’t recommend Andrew highly enough.

Just overall a bad experience. Lady at the front desk was rude and took literally 20 minutes checking in the woman in front of me. I will never go back here again.

Such a depressing place. Not a smile in sight, the facilities are so dated, rude front desk. Tiles were broken in the steam room. They have le labo products in the bathroom which is literally the only nice thing.

The only thing that kept me from joining equinox after trying them out is their soaps, shampoos and lotions. They leave a disgusting smell on your skin. Bring back Kiehls soap. That stuff was awesome. Besides that the club is outdated. They just took over a lower brand generic gym and put new equipment in it. I could deal with that if the soaps and lotions were better. Definitely not joining.

UPDATE: They finally changed their soaps and lotions and they’re amazing! Le Labo brand. Freaking amazing smell. I’m super tempted to join. I came as a guest the other day. I’m on the fence, 50/50. The club is still way outdated. Their locker rooms feels almost like a planet fitness or golds gym locker room and their lifting equipment is somewhat old, and they don’t have an ice tub. But if the price is right I’d definitely join now. Bumping up from 1 to 2 stars.

Dirty and very very very dated locker rooms. Think your 100 year old college dorm but more rust. Gym equipment in ok shape. Feels more like an old community center gym. Certain rooms and facilities close at random / break A LOT. Not the Equinox you were told you’d get.

This gym is a great place to stay motivated and active. The facility is clean, organized, and has a wide variety of equipment for different workouts. The trainers are friendly, supportive, and always ready to give helpful advice. I enjoy the positive and energetic atmosphere here. It makes working out more enjoyable and helps me stay focused on my fitness goals. 💪

Nearly all class instructors are excellent! Class diversity is great! I have enjoyed the classes and most members are very courteous and considerate in the equipment room.

But the lady staff in the locker room was so scary— yelling at me for not knowing the pool on Friday ended half an hour earlier (I smiled at that first yelling and said thank you to her) and yelling again 2 minutes later while I was naked, showering (which got me scared). The second yelling was about why I didn’t hear the announcement about the gym closing earlier.

I have been going to this gym for five months but this was at most the second to my husband and I swam on Friday. And there was another member who was swimming until 9 pm. There was a male staff cleaning before then but he didn’t tell us that the pool closes at 8:30 pm Fridays. We didn’t hear any announcement at the pool.

I was trying to be understanding at the first yelling but the second yelling while I was naked was too much — I was trying to explain to her that I really didn’t know and didn’t hear the announcement. But she was so mad :(

    I guess

Don’t expect much of this gym. The two floors are separate and it’s very annoying moving around depending on what you are planning to do. One Equinox signature trait you for sure will get is the obnoxious, passive aggressive coaches moving around like they own the gym and don’t you dare touch any of the multiple equipment they are holding for their clients.
