The nurses are the nicest humans alive but the doctor told me I had “gas pains” after I sat in a room for 8 hours trying to tell her my pain wasn’t normal — had to go to a different facility. Turned out to be a stomach ulcer. You’re better off going to the ER at GW or Sibley.
My experience with urgent care at the Capitol Hill Medical Center, coming in with a pressing eye issue on a holiday weekend, was excellent. The doctor (Dr. Yonathan Habtemariam) and staff (Danielle and others) put me at total ease and demonstrated care and expertise in solving my problem. An amazing team! I went in around 6:30AM Saturday morning and emerged a little over two hours later. This seems like an exceptionally busy place so set your expectations accordingly. You could also call KP's nurse hotline for recommendations and to check on wait times at dift area urgent care centers. This site simply does not have the capacity to handle the volume of patients/need, resulting in unacceptably slow (dis)service for patients and stretching staff too thin so they are overworked. Took about 30 min just to get checked in. Triaged in about an hour, waited several more hours to get into the room to see a doctor, then sat in that room there about 45 minutes before the doctor came, then waited another 30-40 min to get a shot after seeing the doc (presumably doctor was with other patients?). The only reason I gave two stars versus one or zero is bc the nurse and doctor were good - knowledgeable, empathetic, skilled with the shots, etc. However, triage nurse didn't...read full review
