I hate to do my african sistas like this, but UGLY WORK. It was so bad, I drove straight home and immediately took it down and washed my hair. And it wasnt just my hair, but EVERYONE'S hair looked horrible. There was even a lil girl with natural thick long hair who got two French braids and even that didnt look good. The lady before me got senegalese twists. She sincerely thanked the woman and tipped her. Her hair looked freaking terrible!!! It wasnt blown smooth enough, you could see the two different textures very clearly and ALL her ends were sticking out. Some of her braids will probably fall out because the quality here is so amatuerish. After about five minutes in, I had her start over. She was getting defensive, so I assuaged her by saying "Im wrong, youre right". She started a 2nd time, and I quickly realized that she simply didnt have the skill level Im accustomed to. I normally get my braids done in Harlem on 125th. These women wouldnt last five seconds there. My braider uses Expressions hair. I was going to bring my own, but the waterbury beauty supply stores were closed on labor day. Oh and she slopped a whole bunch of pro style gel. Who uses pro style anymore?????? It was so much that my head was wet and she tried to put me under the dryer. You know how pro style gets hard under the dryer. I said no thanks and got outta there as quick as I could. Rushed home and took this crap down. I would die if my crush saw me like this. It was just ugly, period.

This was my only visit here since it's out of my area. There were two girls there who alternated taking turns braiding my hair. Each was pleasant and mindful of how this can be sometimes a little painful. My only complaint was this was a little out of my price range. For what was almost a 5 hour appointment it came out to about $130. Other places I've been to charge a little less than that. Yet the girls were both very skilled and I would still recommend even though it cost a little more.

Getting your hair braiding is NOT supposed to be painful. You should not see hair follicles next to your scalp 2 days after getting your hair braided. You should not have tension bumps at the back of your head after getting your hair braided. The light skin lady braids way too fast and she pulls your hair. She is African so you would think they would know how to treat black hair. She pulls, grabs, and uses a small tooth comb to comb throat your hair. I guess doing a half a$$ job so that you can do more heads and pull in more money is more important than keep repeat customers. Take your money ANYWHERE BUT HERE.

I had an appointment with another hair salon in Waterbury- I drove over an hour to get there for the salon to tell me they couldn't keep my appointment. I was furious. So I called Miriam's shop/salon, & she was able to take me same day within 10 minutes! I got there, Miriam and Amy were extremely friendly and social. My hair typically takes 9-11 hours for the particular hairstyle. Miriam was able to do the work of 3 people in 6 hours! Impressive! I will go no where else but to her! The drive is so worth it!!!! I would recommend her to all my friends!
