Dave Tetlow and his crew and sub-contractors were a pleasure to work with. They coordinated well and got the work done with great attention to detail. Some of the excavation work was tricky because of limited space and it was a challenge tying the roofs of the existing buildings together. In both cases, the results came out extremely well. Dave was always available and he kept me well informed about all aspects of the progress. He interfaced very well with the electrical, plumbing, heating contractors and inspectors so that the phases of the construction were ready when their input was needed. Overall, the work was done very well and completely.
I first met Jon Day in 2013, when he designed and fabricated screen windows for the Steel House at Connecticut College, a modernist gem from the 1930s. Jon immediately grasped the need to create low-maintenance screens that would be easy to handle and that would also be in keeping with the building’s unusual design. His solution was exquisite in its simplicity and also beautifully executed. He did not just care about the work; he was excited by the challenges it presented and eager to add value to the project.Since then we have turned to Jon and his crew time and again to work on personal projects: designing, fabricating and installing storm/screen windows at our old house in Stonington; restoring a 10-foot tall bay window at our current house in Mystic; coordinating the installation of a new roof in connection with repairing and replacing exterior trim; and installing new gutters in keeping with the historic character of this 1885 house. We have been uniformly happy with the process and the product. Jon has always been careful to make sure that he understands our priorities; to review with us detailed written proposals of the work; and to communicate with great transparency about how he sets his prices. During the process, he is always on site to ensure that things are going as planned, to keep the lines of communication open, and to make sure the worksite is safe and clean. Every member of the crew shares Jon’s ethos. It’s no exaggeration to say that they exude joy in their work.The results have been exceptional. Especially at our current house, projects have often been complicated when we have discovered just how badly executed some earlier repairs could be. In those instances, Jon has worked in close collaboration with us to brainstorm and assess the various alternatives. Invariably, we settle on an approach that will address the issue without breaking the bank. Best of all, the new components have always blended in seamlessly with the original building. Thanks to Jon and his crew, we have the pleasure of inhabiting a living, breathing piece of art.

My 11 year old son goes through phases of wanting shorter hair and letting his hair grow out simply because he doesn't like haircuts. However after we came here, he liked the experience and haircut so much., that he wants to come back next month to maintain the cut! The prices are also very reasonable.

Mark Weber and his team helped us enhance the safety and aesthetics of our main entrance. The stone wall they rebuilt and paver pathway with the cobble edging look terrific. They are dependable, efficient, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. We're so lucky to have found Mark who is a talented craftsman.

I walked into my bathroom this morning - radiant heat floors warming my cold toes - and thought, “Wow, this is my happy place.” Then I walked over to my closet, picked out clothes that I could see matched, sat on my built in bench and thought, “No, THIS is my happy place!” Good news is that I was right both times. We bought our house 10 years ago, complete with its 1991 pink-tiled garden tub, step-in wire shelf closet, smaller-than-a-phone-booth shower and air of desperate sadness. But there were other projects to do, so our bathroom waited…until now. This remodel has changed my life, and it’s Denise Nott and her team at Nutmeg that made it all happen. They were professional, innovative, done on time (even with my changes), under budget and wonderful human beings throughout the process to work with. I can’t tell you how much differently my day starts and ends. My life is simplified. It feels good. Thanks, Denise, Kevin and Nelson and the crew. You’re amazing! I’d give you 10 stars if I could!
This is my second time going and I love the turn out! They took me from a medium-dark brown to a bright blonde in one session. Stylists are very attentive and I’m happy with the outcome :)
CT House Painters did an amazing job! Brought our custom modern home back to life. Everything in our neighborhood is monochrome (grey on grey, brown on brown), yuck! Javier was great to work with. The process was easy and the quality and level of detail work was amazing! You know it was good when you get letters in the mail from neighbors you haven’t met asking for their contact information. Highly recommended!!!

I needed a key and fob for a truck I just bought. They were able to order both in a couple of days. We set up a time to meet and Jeff was there early. He had everything programmed in about 1/2 hour and we were off and running. Good price also.
Karen is simply the best you will ever find for styling, cutting and blending hair! She listens and takes her time to get your hair done exactly as you ask. Great job on brows too. So glad I found her. I’ll never go anywhere else again. Worth every penny and then some!

If I could give the entire staff and GLVH a billion stars with a billion rainbows and billion butterflies, I would! I am not from Connecticut. However, I brought my mother's beautiful kitty Alley in with some urinary tract issues. The entire team knew I was only in town for the evening, and mom was recovering from back surgery. Everyone, including several veterinarians, technicians, and front of the "house" team, worked on helping Alley until beyond closing time to ensure the best treatment plan for my mom's beloved girl. I have never quite seen a team work so cohesively in an animal hospital before! And I love my vet! but wow, they really have a remarkable TEAM! Mom, myself, and of course Alley, thanks you from the bottom of our hearts! ?
