I’ve been coming here for at least 5 years. The staff are some of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. I get regular mani/pedi’s every month or when I’m traveling, whenever I’m in town, and always make sure to stop by. I’m a tremendous fan of Zoya brand and they carry it and have the most colors I’ve seen in any salon I’ve ever been. I also always add a 10-15 minute chair massage afterwards and that’s probably my favorite part. No matter which salon tech you get, it’s one of my favorite massages ever. We always go to L&G Nails but they were closed on Labor Day so we decided to try here...and will never go back. Upon walking in we were asked "what do you want?" and I told them we had appointments. Because there are no prices listed anywhere - in the store, on the website, or the Yelp page - I will tell you a gel manicure is $40, (I did not have any gel removed) which is more than L&G and more than I often pay in Los Angeles (I also find it to be poor business to not publish your prices anywhere...). Both mine and my sisters nails were done in an under an hour (together they took under an hour) by the same person and I am all about things getting done quickly but not if it means both of us leave with bleeding cuticles, nail polish around our nails, and uneven polish, which is even more obvious when it's gel. Not to mention our nails were not soaked in water and lotion was a "pat" once our nails were completed. The UV lamps are built into the tables they do your nails at and they were not cleaned, which is disconcerting given Covid. Net-net if you are looking for a manicure, go to L&G - better quality, nicer staff, less expensive and your nails will turn out better. I'm not one to write negative reviews but Black Rock has too many other options to get your nails done ...

I just finished with a regular pedicure and gel manicure. The two women were very friendly and did a great job. However, I am giving three stars because it was so overpriced I was shocked! I spent $70. I was expecting $25 for the gel and $20 for the pedicure, which is inline with what I pay at most salons. I hope they pay their staff well because it makes it very difficult to tip when you feel you’re being overcharged so significantly.A word of advice to the salon: if you’re going to charge prices that are substantially higher than other salons in the area, put up pricing so that people are not taking so off guard when they’re checking out.RESPONSE TO RESPONSE FROM...read full review
