“I'm actually quite surprised at the reviews for colonial fence that I see on yelp. I will be the first to tell you that they do seem to overbook themselves. I was luckily in no rush at all and go to wait until they were available, but if you have a very strict timeline, colonial is not the way to go. It was about a one to two month delay from the original range of when we should expect to see the install.
I believe the workers went above and beyond in my instance. The back corner of my yard was apparently very neglected by the previous owner and there were large stones and some garbage packed in the ground there. Colonial clean that up, and disposed of everything but the stones. When I initially measured out according to my property's survey, I missed that the property line actually intersects the remains of a cut tree. About three to four feet of the tree remained and they cut this down into two large pieces to be able to run the fence passed the tree. These two items alone would have been caused for a renegotiation of the price they gave me. They were also very nice and understanding while I had to try to wrestle with a troublesome neighbor during this process.
They also had a really good price for specialty fences. We really wanted a cross hatch topper on our fence and the total cost was only about $1,500 more compared to other companies which must source from suppliers that charge a lot more for those types of fences. I had one company give me a difference of about 10 grand to add the cross hatch on the top of the fence.
Because I try to be environmentally conscious, even though I was installing a vinyl fence, I would have liked to see vacuums being used to try to suck up the vinyl flakes from cutting. When the contractors cleaned my driveway they ended up removing one of my hoses to place it somewhere else to use that for the cleaning. I would recommend ensuring that there is a hose provided so that you don't have to do this in the future.
I recommend the team at colonial fence if you aren't on a tight timeline. I think their service was really good at a really good price.”
