We really lucked out with our first dog who we never trained. When our first pup passed away and we rescued our latest pup Maisie, we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into lol. We called her Crazy Maisie for a reason. She had no boundaries, endless energy, super high prey drive, was a jumper/lunger, and was very reactive. We knew as she got older, if we didn't train her properly, her craziness would turn into aggression. Thankfully we got referred to Ashley by a friend. I still cannot express my gratitude for Ashley and for how she helped Maisie become the dog that she is now (and for helping me become the dog owner that I am). Ashley isn't a one size fits all trainer, which is so important. She has a wealth of knowledge and she understands that all dogs are different and have different needs. She develops their training based on what your dog needs and what you want to do with your dog. But what I believe is her super power, is her ability to help train you to give your dog what it needs to thrive. She's an amazing advocate for your dog. Before we started with Ashley, I thought we had made a mistake getting Maisie. Ashley helped me learn what to do in order to help Maisie live her best life. PLUS we ended up moving from Connecticut to Puerto Rico while we were training with Ashley. She helped accelerate Maisie's training so she could have the best experience traveling on a plane and settling into a new home since she was a very anxious pup. Ashley continued helping us virtually to support Maisie's training which was so helpful! Maisie now hikes fully off leash with us every day. She can go to restaurants with us, flies on airplanes with us, rides in a golf cart, stays at hotels with us and is a calm dog who naps happily throughout the day. She is great with other dogs, kids and people. She still gets anxious, she still has prey drive, but she and I both know what to do and we both have the tools to work through any scenario. Maisie is living her best life, we couldn't be happier and it's all because we decided to work with Ashley. Just do yourself a favor and hire Ashley. She is worth it.
We called Ashley after our boy Beau had bitten a few family members and friends. We were concerned about having anyone over to our house and didn’t want to have to worry about what his reaction would be to visitors. Pit bulls have enough of a stigma attached to them as it is. Beau has been working with Ashley (and Jason and Nicole) for almost a year now and the difference is amazing. We learned how to recognize signs of distress and ways we could calm him. We feel so much more confident with having people over now knowing we can advocate for him and keep safe instead of him worrying that he needs to keep US safe. We appreciate all the knowledge and help you’ve given us!
Ashley will work with you and your dog with convenient scheduling options to help resolve and prevent dog related problems. She helped us learn how to better communicate with our boy and set up routines that work for all of us. Ashley taught us to recognize our dog’s body language so we could respond accordingly. She helped us make an anxious, prey-driven rescue dog into a more confident and much less reactive one. Before we started with Ashley, he would fixate on our cat. Now he walks around her and avoids looking at her. He went from hiding and barking around new people to safely making friends with anyone who would like to meet him. He hardly ever barks now that he’s feeling more secure with us. Thank you Ashley!
