“We love taking lessons from Mr. Taylor. We always get comments from my kids’ grandmas and great grandmas at recitals about how kind and patient he is with kids and what a different experience that is from their piano teachers growing up. My kids make a lot of progress throughout the year and like that Mr. Taylor gives them a say in the music they play. I have energetic young boys and I love that they enjoy piano lessons.“

“TL;DR: Katie is PHENOMENAL, and if you’re even half way considering voice lessons, you’d be doing yourself a massive disservice by not working with her.

Growing up, I always got told I had my dad’s voice. He always got razzed that he was tone deaf, and got kicked out of choir class in 2nd grade for “goofing around” but he legit just really couldn’t sing.

I have loved singing my whole life, but I only did it around people who I was super close with and felt really safe with cuz I felt like I sounded like a dying cat. Well, my partner noticed how much I sing along to music at home doing random things, and started suggesting (rather frequently) that I try voice lessons. I got to a point where I agreed just to shut him up about it.

He researched teachers, and set me up with Katie. On my way there the first day, I was terrified-in a cold sweat, throat muscles constricting so much it felt like I was choking almost, and on the phone with my best friend in tears because I was so scared to sing in front of someone and “try.”

When I got there, Katie’s bubbly, welcoming demeanor was extremely comforting. I shared my backstory with her, and she sang with me almost the entire first lesson, which helped put me at ease.

I’ve done ~7 sessions with her. I’m astounded on how much my voice has improved, how she’s coached me thru finding resonance in different registers (which I knew NOTHING about) confidently, and made it feel like play the whole way through.

Not only has my singing improved, but I’ve also noticed a capacity boost in speaking up for myself, and also strengthening the singing muscles has helped significantly with some long-standing neck pain.

Katie is incredibly talented, genuinely cares about your progress (encourages me to record and send things I’m struggling with when I’m practicing between sessions-she responds expediently), and is an absolute joy to spend time with. Incredibly grateful I got her on the first shot because I think a poor experience would have completely deterred me.

I also feel I need to mention how technically sound she is. She always has 3-5 different options to get you into the resonance that’s needed. Having the variety when one doesn’t click we just go to the next til I hit it has been extremely instrumental in my progress.

Long story short, take lessons with Katie-I really can’t imagine anyone having a disappointing experience with her.“

“I’m a guitarist that always wanted to be able to sing but thought because I wasn’t born with that gift so I was out of luck. On a whim I signed up for singing lessons with John.

He is a very patient and thoughtful teacher. I thought I would be running endless scales and breathing exercises but he has you working on singing right away which was fantastic.

Thanks to these lessons I went from not being able to sing a single note to being able to get together with my friends at our weekly jams, calling out a song I want to play, and being able to get through it as well as the other amateur singers in our group and have everyone think that it sounded good. That’s a dream come true for me.

This is a work in progress and I’m excited to get better. I highly recommend his lessons.“
