Nine years ago, I was in a motor vehicle accident which severely hurt my neck and contributed greatly to my head hanging forward. Over the years it became easier to just let my head lean forward, but I then began to lose my ability to raise my head upright. Additionally, 15 years ago I was diagnosed with both Type-2 Diabetes and Gout. I have since been gaining weight and developed neuropathy which has developed into pain in both of my feet that I have been unsuccessfully treating with Tylenol. My A1-C has reached levels of 8.3 and blood sugars that have almost reached 200. The medical doctors’ suggestions were for me to wear a back brace and to remain on insulin for the rest of my life. Since receiving care at LOH Optimal Healing, Dr Todd has worked with me in regaining my neck’s alignment and strength. I recently went to my regularly scheduled appointment to my retinologist, and for the first time ever I was able to place my head in the normal headrest position without additional accommodations! My A1-C and blood glucose levels have dropped to as low as 6.6 (almost not pre-diabetic) and 85 respectively, and I am now losing the unwanted, extra body weight! Dr Todd tells me that we are eating my elephant of problems one bite at a time.

Jennifer Vose For about 2-years I was suffering from a gradual buildup of severe pain in my left knee. I was slowly becoming unable to work out as I had done in previous years as I was losing strength and stability as the pain was only getting worse. I had gotten to the point where I could not even walk without an obvious limp to try and help minimize the weight I must put on my knee when I just need to walk. My orthopedic surgeon took x-rays that showed no tibiofibular joint space in my left knee. His mindset gave me only two suggestions of how to manage this horrible situation: get cortisone shots that might help the pain and would only allow the cause of my problem to keep getting gradually worse, then finally resort to scheduling for a full knee replacement surgery. As my ortho-surgeon was strongly pushing for me to get the knee replacement surgery, I felt hopeless as I was offered no other alternative from my orthopedic surgeon. Luckily in early March of this year, I was walking with my Personal Trainer at Clement Park as I was crossing paths with Dr. Todd. He asked if he could ask me about my limp and then asked whether I had ever considered trying adjustments on my knee. I told him I was willing to try anything because the last thing I wanted was to have the temporary-permanent-fix of a knee replacement surgery. After getting a full examination at LOH-FC, Dr. Todd made no promises other that it could not hurt to see what might happen in trying to realign my tib-fib joint. He makes it very clear that Corrective Chiropractic Care Plans are not without discomfort as he is putting micro tears into the ligaments to get the knee back into alignment, so discomfort is very much to be expected, but in a good “work-out” kind of pain. Halfway through my Corrective Care Plan, Dr. Todd took ‘mid-way’ x-rays to see if we were making any ‘structural’ progress on my tib-fib joint. The x-ray showed a fully visible left knee tib-fib joint! Dr. Todd continues to look out for my best interests and co-manages my rehabilitation with Dr. Birch (a fellow chiropractor) who is performing vitamin shots in my left tib-fib joint to help support the nourishment of this joint. I am continuing to regain significant stability and strength again in my left knee! I am very appreciative that Dr. Todd offered me a different mindset in how to approach the actual ‘cause’ of my knee problem instead of merely addressing the ‘symptoms’ of my pain.
