About Center for Autism and Related Disorders - Lakewood

The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) offers high-quality, evidence-based autism treatment services to children, teens, adults, and families. The center provides intensive behavioral intervention and focused programs using applied behavior analysis (ABA), which is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree. CARD's passionate and skilled board certified behavior technicians work one-to-one with patients under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Reviewers have shared positive experiences with CARD. One employee who recently started working at the center was initially concerned based on previous reviews but found the staff to be dedicated and passionate about helping clients grow and excel. The employee has witnessed the staff's humility in learning from past mistakes and their commitment to improving the center for the benefit of both staff and clients. Another reviewer, a parent, expressed gratitude for the center's work with their child. The child, who was not fully using three-word sentences at age 5, has made significant progress in communication, including using an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. The staff has shown patience and understanding in addressing the child's needs and behaviors, and the parent is appreciative of the regular updates and communication. A third reviewer, also a parent, had initially been referred to a different ABA provider but was not satisfied with the experience. After being referred to CARD, the parent found the center to be very understanding and has seen remarkable progress in their child's development since starting ABA therapy there. The parent particularly appreciates the communication and trust established with the staff, including Zach, Matteo, Grace, and Jen. Overall, the reviews highlight CARD's commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based ABA therapy, as well as the dedication and compassion of the staff in supporting the growth and development of their clients.

I started working for CARD in August of this year. I made the decision to go into ABA therapy as I have always enjoyed interacting and working with individuals with ASD. My review is going to be transparent about my experience working at this center.I wasn't sure what to expect when I started here, I was concerned based off the reviews but did receive some reassurance knowing I would be part I read before applying. However I didn't let this completely sway my decision in applying to this center. My reasoning is the famous saying of "the only way to go is up" once I was given my job offer letter to be the Assistant Coordinator I was eager and excited to start getting...read full review

When my son first started here he wasn’t fully using three word sentences at the age of 5. They have really taken on pushing my son to not only use three words or more but pushed him to use his ACC device also. They have given both time and patience to understanding my sons needs and his behaviors. I am truly grateful to Zach and his whole staff at CARD. They always keep me in the loop about where my son is in his therapy as well as needs he may have that are constantly changing. My son is so happy to attend therapy every day and play with his peers as well as his therapist.

My son is on the spectrum, I was referred to SOAR for ABA but husband and I didn't really like it there when we went to tour and seen the reviews, until we were referred to CARD by my sons service coordinator. I had the tour when they were berly going to open it. I loved the area and they are very understanding. My son started around May, since I was pregnant at the time & due any day he was allowed to go back a couple months until I was feeling better from having my baby. We started ABA again in July. At 1st my son would cry and not want to let go of me, but little by little he started to get use to it & now he will give me a kiss before going inside and goes straight...read full review
