Before my experience here, I was grasping at anything to keep my hair from what felt like thinning and losing my curls--wasting money on "personalized" products, co-washes, DIY acv rinse, sulfate-free products, natural products, etc. I often considered a brazilian blowout to take a break from the work that was my hair. I wanted to partial color it again so it would look more vibrant or warm. I guess when you don't know what's going on, you start to nitpick so many qualities of your hair in an effort to make sense of it. Jackie is a RARE FIND and so talented! Here, I was put at ease in the salon chair for probably the first time in my life and I will never give up getting to go see her (now I know anyone I went to before probably had no idea what they were doing in cutting or styling my hair type and I'm going to have a hard time giving anyone else a chance at cutting my hair again). After I listened to her thoughts and we made a plan, I felt like I was finally in trustworthy hands and could breathe. Jackie is overwhelmingly knowledgeable and experienced and yet she met me right where I was, listened, and never made me feel like I had to do anything a certain way just based on her opinion. Jackie puts you in charge rather than you getting dragged through some haphazard process and crossing your fingers that it works out for you. I had no idea the potential my hair had at the time! Jackie Wilt has done so much for me. I didn't know what my hair goals were at first but I'm so glad I didn't shy away from the journey! It is so worth it to finally understand and TAKE CARE OF my hair which I had no idea was possible. But thank God, Jackie taught me!! I can't believe it's the same hair I was living with before; the cool part is that my curl pattern wasn't changed to make it more manageable which is impossible of course. My hair just drank up what it was missing and over time did what it had always been fighting for. Now with care, it is defined, moves with me and feels soft and shiny! I have more loose ringlets all over now except for in my very most underneath layer at the nape of my neck where I have a stark straight, slightly wavy pattern (probably from years of hormonal birth control use). I love what Jackie has helped to create with my layers! I didn't feel confident in my old hair and it wasn't flattering me at all; I was just managing/coping with it. It sat there feeling big and bulky despite it's springy waves and texture and it grew (outwards, not down). My boyfriend's dad used to call it the creature; it was like it's own thing separate from me. Before Jackie, I sometimes appreciated having relatively unique hair but had no idea how to predict when or why it would look better some days more than others. It could be dull, totally listless and lifeless. It could dramatically lose the results of a good wash day so quickly and the definition and volume varied from wash to wash. The only thing I could count on was for it to look big and fluffy and feel dry and weighed down. I just thought that's what it meant to have my hair and there was no changing it;“
