My normal Vet had be bring my shepherd here out of concern of her gum color. After checking her out and verifying they were a normal color, the doctor was also very transparent in telling me that the other issue we were there for was not an emergency, if I wanted to just follow up with my vet to save myself some money. I decided to take that suggestion and the doc waived my exam fee and sent me on my way, which was just so kind of her to do!! They easily could have still charged me the exam fee, but she saved me $200!

I highly recommend this place for honest care, and will be coming back for any future emergencies!

VRCC has always been my go-to for emergencies. People have to understand that services provided cost money and when your pet is in critical condition and stabilization is needed, they require an $800 deposit to cover all sorts of services that could save your pets life. When time is of the essence, they don’t have time to provide estimates and go over details. (This is also why pet insurance is so important!!) I’m so thankful for the care the ER, Internal Medicine, and Surgery department have provided for my 3 animals over the years! Their care is worth every penny.

Adding to my old review - this is the absolutely best place for something you hope to never have to experience. But, if you do you're in the best of hands. Our late cat visited quite often unfortunately but each and every single time he was taken care of with the utmost care and kindness. The staff were always very accommodating and helpful with answering questions. I wouldn't have trusted my previous pet with anyone else and if I ever have another pet I'll trust them implicitly again, they explain everything in simple terms or if you prefer more complicated scientific terms - they respond quickly and were always helpful. I can't express my thanks to them more for how well they took care of our late family member (cat) and the humanity they illustrated during the entire caring process.

    VRCC Saved our dog’s life.

Our dog has ITP—an autoimmune condition similar to lupus—where his body attacks his own blood cells, causing dangerous internal bleeding. When he began vomiting blood, we knew immediately that something was terribly wrong. Our primary veterinarian quickly recognized it as a life‑threatening emergency and contacted local hospitals to find a place equipped to give him the best chance of survival. VRCC was the one that answered that call.

VRCC had blood on hand for transfusions, the capacity to take him immediately, and the expertise necessary to treat such a complex condition. He spent nearly a full week in their critical care unit, receiving four blood transfusions, two plasma transfusions, and truly intensive, round‑the‑clock care.

Yes—the bill was significant and difficult to manage. But throughout the entire process, the staff was transparent, providing both high and low estimates and setting realistic expectations. It’s easy to assume hospitals overcharge, but in situations this severe, it’s important to understand the immense resources required to save a life.

After six days in critical care, our dog was stable enough to come home. VRCC also referred us to an internal medicine specialist who has continued his care in a much more controlled environment.

For anyone facing a similarly terrifying situation, I want to reassure you: VRCC will do everything reasonably possible to save your pet. It won’t be news you ever want to receive or something you’re financially prepared for, but the cost truly reflects the level of care, expertise, and dedication involved. They may not be able to work miracles every time, but they will absolutely go the extra mile.

The staff was compassionate, courteous, and honest throughout the entire process. If your pet is facing a severe medical crisis, I wholeheartedly recommend considering VRCC. We are beyond grateful to everyone who helped our baby pull through such a difficult fight.

No wait time and they did a great job making us feel welcome.

I brought my cat to VRCC seeking a second opinion from internal medicine during an incredibly difficult time. I was not looking for unrealistic hope. I had already accepted that her condition might be terminal. What I was hoping for was a fresh perspective and compassionate communication about where she was at medically.

Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling unheard and emotionally unsupported. I was told very bluntly that nothing could be done. While I understand that this may have been medically accurate, the delivery lacked sensitivity. I felt assumptions were made about my intentions rather than listening to what I was actually asking, which was simply for clarity and reassurance during an overwhelming moment.

I respect the medical expertise involved, and I know these conversations are difficult. However, kindness and empathy matter deeply when families are facing end-of-life decisions. I left feeling judged and alone at a time when I needed compassion most.

My cat meant everything to me. I did everything I could for her, and I wish this experience had felt more supportive for both of us during her final days.

I hope this feedback helps improve communication for others going through similar heartbreak.

My dog got attacked and was referred out to VRCC for critical care. The critical care staff were incredibly compassionate and thoughtful in their service to both us and our dog. They allowed us to come in and visit our dog while she stayed overnight, they didn’t charge for follow up appts once we took her home, and were so prompt to respond to emails and phone calls when we had questions about our dog’s recovery. They made a truly horrible situation better with their service and care for our dog. I would recommend them to anyone needing emergency care.

Our 4 1/2 yr old kitty was in respiratory distress and could not breathe. we called ahead and the VRCC was ready and took out kitty from half-dead to all better within 24 hrs. we left him overnight in an oxygen tent there at VRCC. The doctor's and Staff were so awesome, wIth positive communication about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options. I feel like if we didn't go to the VRCC, our kitty would not have survived. Thank ALL of you at VRCC for such awesome specialty care, professionalism and caring.

My best friend had to deal with rude vet techs who had absolutely no sense of bedside manner- as she was sobbing alone in the lobby, processing that her dog needed to be put down, the vet techs were laughing and showing no self awareness or thoughtfulness. They lacked care and consideration throughout the process, giving her barely anytime to say goodbye to her dog before they began spouting tons of pricing options at her. I highly recommend looking elsewhere- when your pet is experiencing an emergency, you deserve to have vet techs who treat you with empathy.
