I injured my shoulder a couple months ago during one of my lifts. I was experiencing so much pain that it was painful just to lift my arm to drive. After contacting Scott at Backcountry PT, I was introduced to Nick. Just with my first session with Nick after having dry needling done, I've started to notice the pain was less severe. After 6 weeks of working with Nick, not can I lift my arm over my head without experiencing any pain, but I'm back to lifting again. I highly recommend Backcountry Physical Therapy when it comes to any injuries you might be experiencing.

My son has been going for months. Very pleased. I have been having severe pain for months in hip and down leg. Son ask Scott if would see me instead at appointment. He graciously agreed. Through pleasant professional. And when two weeks of applying the prescribed motions….. all but gone is the pain. Freedom of movement returned. Confident if keep it up back to 100%.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a month, so first of all: Nick, I’m sorry man, I actually took time off of work so I could remember to do this.

I’m writing this at the end of a three mile run that, at the end of last year, I would not have been able to walk without being bedridden for at least a full day. After 14 years in the military of “roll out of bed and run until you can’t,” I suddenly couldn’t anymore. I guess that’s what those old crusty guys were trying to warn me about.

Dr. Nick Wohkittel was my physical therapist, and at the very beginning of this, I was doing very light flexion and stretching exercises. After a week of doing that…probably more than he would have liked, I surprised him by doing a standing lunge for the first time in a year. He had me start doing core exercises, and stretching focused on my hip and lower back (the center of the pain that had bothered me for, at that point, six months straight). Another week after that, and we started doing more, and then more after that — and let me tell you, at no point was this easy. In this case, learning to tell the difference between good pain and bad pain was critical for me. Dr. Wohkittel definitely helped me with that.

Today, after three miles of running with my dog, 100 body-weight squats, a twenty minute core circuit, and half an hour of stretching, I have no pain. None. Not even a little bit. My lower back has zero issues with it anymore, and I haven’t taken Tylenol in three months. That was a daily thing, before I got to these guys. I deadlifted yesterday at a working weight of 225 pounds, and I haven’t been able to do that in years.

Bottom line: It is not at all an exaggeration to say that Dr. Wohkittel and the Backcountry team have seriously changed the trajectory of my health. I’m going to live longer because of these guys — so if you’re on the fence about going to see them, on whether or not they can actually help you, don’t be.

I’m going to get a lot more time around my family because I went to Backcountry. It’s worth every penny, and then some. Thanks, Doc. That doesn’t really cover all you’ve done for me, but I’m going to say it anyway.

Nick is awesome! 10/10 I would definitely recommend him! My son hurt his back and had been having troubles with lifting during wrestling because of it. Since he’s been working with Nick, my son has been able to do wrestling moves without pain and his form has improved in general for workouts. Nick has seriously been awesome!

As a board-certified specialist who has worked with athletes and athletic physical therapists for the past 10 years, I can say confidently that Scott is one of the very best physical therapists in Colorado Springs. The level of care that he delivers to his patients is unmatched - as he is meticulous and thorough about every small detail and need of his patients. He is also genuinely kind and compassionate, validating the thoughts and needs of a person without overlooking their own opinions. You won't find a better PT in this city.

I had some minor neck pain that Scott was able to fix in about 5 minutes during a consultation.

WOW. Working with Nick has been exactly what I needed to LEVEL UP. This isn’t just PT, this having an amazing expert in your corner so you can conquer your goals!

I’m an athlete who trains for obstacle course racing and distance running. I’ve also been working on a bunch of upper body goals to better traverse obstacles.

I work with a coach for my training and nutrition, but I was really impressed right away with Nick’s depth and range of knowledge! I could tell from the consultation that there was so much I could learn from him to improve my training and better prevent injuries so I could keep doing the activities I love long term. The evaluation was super thorough and covered multiple areas of my training and needs.

Once I started working with Nick, the inevitable happened, and I went from focusing on my ankle to being in pain from a new shoulder strain. The structure at Backcountry is designed to be agile & adaptable as athletic needs change. I was able to show up to my session, tell Nick what was wrong and he was able to get me out of pain and come up with a plan to manage the trouble spots and my training overall while still staying active. We didn’t have to mess with referrals, insurance approvals, or red tape. Just focused on my goals and taking care of my body while also learning a *ton* to help set me up for the future, not just one injury!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting an evaluation with Backcountry for any athlete who’s looking for a top-notch trainer in their arsenal. It’s changed my whole approach and I am a better (and healthier!) athlete because of it!!
