I accompanied my relative, a minor, to Kaiser for her routine birth control injection, which she has been receiving regularly for nearly two years outside of Kaiser. This visit was very different from every previous experience she has had.
While we were brought back later than scheduled, I understand delays can happen and donβt necessarily reflect on the provider. However the administration of the injection raised serious concerns for both of us.
Before the injection, the nurse practitioner Merja Slater, left the room to retrieve the medication packaging for scanning. While she was gone, I picked up the vial and observed a small amount of clear loose liquid. When she returned and administered the injection, the process took significantly longer than any of her previous injections. While the needle was still inserted in her arm, Merja shook the needle repeatedly. Merja explained that the medication was thick and that this was why the injection was taking so long.
The experience felt unusual enough that I texted my relative while the injection was still being administered to ask whether this was normal for her. At previous visits when I was in the room, I havenβt seen her shots take place like this. As soon as we left the room, I began scanning the visit survey QR code. Before even seeing my message, as we turn the corner to walk out she immediately commented that the injection had never been administered that way before, βitβs never been like that.β
I immediately returned to the room and explained that the experience seemed very different from all of her previous injections. Merja responded that if other providers had administered the injection differently, they were doing it incorrectly. Given that my relative has received this same treatment multiple times from several different medical professionals over the past two years without a similar experience, that explanation did not land well or feel genuine.
As a result of this visit, we no longer feel comfortable receiving this treatment through Kaiser and will be returning to her previous physician, even if it means paying out of pocket. I would encourage Kaiser to review this experience and ensure patients and their families feel heard and properly taken care of when they raise concerns about their care.

Staff was knowledgeable and patient. Easy to get to and easy to navigate once inside the building.

Not impressed with pediatrician Amber Bisgard. Felt like just another patient that her and her PA had to get through to move on to the next. Definitely not personable or friendly. Didnt answer questions we had other than what we already knew.

I visited the Urgent Care in the Lone Tree facility at the recommendation of the Arapahoe Medical Office. I was taken care of from the beginning until the results were in, and my doctor gave me the diagnosis, prognosis, and the instruction for care. The care team were efficient, friendly, and courteous. I was even lucky enough so that I did not have to wait to be admitted.

My husband and I have been with Kaiser since about 1985. We have been with Dr. Parsons for around 20 years. He is wonderful. He definitely cares about our health and has helped us stay healthy. Prior to Dr. Parsons we had Dr. Holton who was wonderful too.

The visit with the Doctor went fine. He listened to my explanations and concerns, evaluated the issue and made recommendations to get blood work, urine analysis and set an appointment to have an ultrasound done. I was able to go directly to the lab and have blood drawn and provided a urine sample. Unfortunately, when I called to schedule the ultrasound, the soonest appointment is six weeks from today!!!! That is unacceptable! There is no sense of urgency with Kaiser and I am actively looking into different medical services.I am extremely disappointed.
