I cannot overstate how frustrating and dysfunctional my experience with Dignity Health, particularly the Gastroenterology department, has been.
When I moved to California, I immediately took steps to establish care with a primary care physician specifically because my previous out-of-state doctors had recommended that I undergo a colonoscopy within a particular timeframe. I communicated this clearly from the beginning and did everything I could as a patient to be proactive about my health.

Overall, I had a great experience in the emergency room and once admitted all was good. The staff were very kind and charismatic, and the surgical team was excellent. My only negative experience was with the recovery room process which is why I'm leaving 1 star.
After surgery, I was allowed to sleep for about an hour. As soon as I woke up, I told the nurse that I was not okay and was in severe pain. Despite expressing how I felt, I was told I was fine and was going to leave because they had several other similar procedures that day and the pain was “normal” not enough to let me stay longer. I called and requested an inquiry for walk in cash instead. The front desk never came back to me about my inquiry. They had 16 days to get back to me but never did. If you don't have insurance, they'll treat you lesser. Disgusting. I went to a doctor who doesn't discriminate as this one has treated me.
