About Ideal Cabinets
Ideal Cabinets, based in Vista, has garnered a mix of reviews, primarily centered around their work on kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room remodels. Randy Tucker, a key figure at Ideal Cabinets, comes highly recommended by clients and contractors alike for his professionalism and patience. He is known for collaborating effectively with general contractors, like Gary Faith Construction, and for his ability to adapt to design changes throughout projects. Customers have praised Randy for providing detailed CAD designs and utilizing their in-house CNC shop for fabrication, which allows for a high level of customization and quality. His attention to detail, such as matching paint and stain colors perfectly, has been noted as top-notch. Clients have expressed satisfaction with the overall quality of construction and installation. The turnaround times for projects have often exceeded expectations, with cabinet boxes ready ahead of schedule. Installers have demonstrated craftsmanship by ensuring that all elements are plumb, level, and square, resulting in well-aligned cabinets and structures. Many clients report being extremely happy with the final outcomes of their remodels. However, there have also been some concerns noted in the reviews. While the cabinets are described as beautiful and well-made, there have been issues regarding measurements and fit, particularly with refrigerator and sink installations. Some customers experienced challenges related to communication about size specifications, which led to problems with fitting appliances and other elements effectively within their designs. These miscommunications sometimes resulted in adjustments that affected the overall layout and functionality of the kitchen. Despite these frustrations, clients have acknowledged the beauty of the finished products and the compliments received from others. Overall, Ideal Cabinets is seen as a professional company with a strong commitment to quality and customer service, though attention to communication regarding specifics could enhance the customer experience further. Ideal Cabinets is recommended for those seeking quality cabinet work, with the caveat that clear communication is essential for a seamless remodel process.

We selected Randy Tucker from Ideal Cabinets in Vista for cabinets on a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room remodel, as well as adding cabinets in our upstairs hallway, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Randy came highly recommended by our general contractor, Gary Faith Construction, and they worked extremely well together throughout the project. Randy is very professional and extremely patient. We came to him with an initial design, and he took the time to show us what would and wouldn't work, offering great recommendations for adjustments. Throughout the process, there were several changes, but he turned them around quickly and efficiently. Randy provided detailed CAD designs, and with their in-house CNC shop, handled all the fabrication. They also worked around a couple of issues discovered during the renovation, resizing some boxes and doors to make everything work. The attention to detail was top-notch, from matching paint and stain colors perfectly to the overall quality of construction and installation. His prices were very competitive, and the turnaround time was much shorter than we expected. Even with the changes we made, Randy had all of the cabinet boxes ready early for installation. Watching his installers at work made us appreciate their craftsmanship--they paid close attention to every detail, ensuring that everything was plumb, level, and square. Our island, oven wall, and window alignment are perfect. My wife is extremely happy with how everything turned out! These guys are true professionals, and we highly recommend Ideal Cabinets for anyone looking for quality cabinet work.
We used Randy at Ideal Cabinets as our contractor Gary Faith recommended him, and friends had used him. While our cabinets look beautiful and he was one of the few suggesting taking them up to our 9 foot ceiling, there were problems. Randy did a great job staining the cabinets to the color we want and they seem to be well made. However, he made the refrigerator "insert" area "to spec" and our refrigerator had to be jimmied in to fit it in the end and touches the walls on both sides. When we mentioned it, his response was "I made it to spec" and to do anything about it would take an additional 3 weeks and 3K for an already expensive project. When we discussed what size sink to buy, we said we wanted a big since, would 36 inch fit. He quickly saiid "yes, see you have 37 inches here on the drawing" and "they were all the same". We mentioned we were concerned about installed size etc and he said no problem. After coming to pick up the sink to build around it, he never communicated that our purchased sink was bigger than he anticipated and that he had to alter the cabinets to accommodate it. This meant cutting down the size of the cabinets for our trash and recycling so they are smaller than desired for a family kitchen (in fact, he had to look for cans that would fit them). We could have and would have returned the sink and gotten one a little smaller if he had let us know he was wrong, that the measurement of the sink did matter and what we got affected the layout. There is a large board under our sink which is just for show, covering a supporting board, and blocks some access to the under sink cabinet, and when we pointed it out to the installer and asked if it could be trimmed, he basically said "no, that is how you do it to match the size of your sink" and it's behind cabinet doors, but really means 1/2 the space under the sink is inaccessible. There is no need for this panel to be as wide as it is and probably was an error. The initial installer was meticulous and noticed one of the other cabinets didn't fit and to be made more narrow, requiring ordering a new door and drawer that would fit inside. This is also probably due to the size of the sink. It took a couple of weeks for that door and drawer to arrive. The final project completion was delayed because Randy had not caught an issue with a corner cabinet that butted up against the edge of another cabinet meaning the "magic cabinet" insert which was put in one corner cabinet would not work in the other corner. A slight change in design would have worked but it was too late. This meant a delay while they ordered a different option which also didn't work. After the 3rd attempt Randy came out to look and discuss with us. My husband suggested an easy fix of trimming the second magic cabinet insert they had brought (not as nice as the original one we wanted, but better than nothing). Once a new installer came out to put that in, it worked. So our review is mixed. The final product looks beautiful and we have had a lot of compliments, but there were missed details that mattered a lot and made the process very frustrating.
