My son, Pierce, was diagnosed with Leukemia/Lymphoma at Los Robles on April 7th. It was one of the scariest days of my life. We were admitted to Los Robles by our pediatrician's referral for 'fever of unknown origin' where we did lab work to determine what he had. The care of our nurse and physician that day was incredible. I have never seen a physician conduct such a thorough exam - she knew she was dealing with not only a very sick kid but also frazzled parents who were dealing with not knowing what was going on with their little guy for 3 weeks. She was patient, clear, incredibly thorough, and calming to both Pierce, my husband and me. From his diagnosis, we were taken via ambulance to Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where he received a blood transfusion and the more specific diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After speaking with some other parents at CHLA, it is not uncommon for patients to have blood work and simply told to go to CHLA 'right away'. I'm so grateful as a parent that Dr. Mitchell and Los Robles respected us well enough to tell us the news, even though it must be difficult to share bad news.
My daughter (now 9) has been a patient there since before she was even born!! :) And she has ALWAYS been treated with the utmost respect and kindness. From the office staff to the nurses to the doctors themselves, all of them are very professional, compassionate, and caring. Their medical services and medical advice have always been RIGHT.ON.POINT. And their offices are extremely clean and kid friendly. I can't say enough good things about them!! :)
