We live near M Ranch Sauna, and I gave it try it yesterday. I’ve got long COVID, and I’m looking for relief from fatigue and better sleep.I was greeted by Terry when I arrived. We walked to the sauna/shower and changing room buildings. Both buildings are new and spotlessly clean.His explanation for how everything works was clear and thorough. Terry explained that this is a Finnish sauna, and instructed me how to add water to the stones to add heat and moisture to the air. This was my first time using a sauna, and Terry advised me to “embrace the heat” and I did.During my 90 minute session, I completed 4 heat and cooldown cycles. During the cooldown, you can take a cool shower, hang out in the changing room, or sit outside. My preference is to sit outside in one of the chairs provided. The view is stunning from here: there’s a huge oak tree with mistletoe in the branches, you can see agricultural fields in the valley below, and of course there’s a great view of the Tehachapi Mountains which had a bit of snow at the very top of the peaks.While I was cooling down, crows and woodpeckers flew by, a small flock of juncos landed then left, a jet drew a thin white line in the sky. It was tranquil and relaxing and cooling.During my final visit in the sauna, I heard an elk bugle nearby. Water and snacks are available for your session and towels are provided. I slept really well last night, as Terry said I would. I highly recommend M Ranch Sauna, great value, beautiful facility.
