In one of the bedrooms, the ground was uneven (like, really uneven), and instead of just covering it up, he took the time to show us exactly what was going on. He used different tools to measure the uneven spots and even uncovered how the previous owner had tried to “fix” it—by stuffing newspaper and random materials under the floor. Yikes. He walked us through our options, explained the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided to have him level it properly before laying the new flooring. That was the only unexpected cost—but it was absolutely necessary, and there was no way he could have known until the old flooring was removed.
