Had to take my dad to the VA Clinic to get new hearing aids and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff members at the front desk were attentive, professional and engaging making check-in (and check-out) a breeze.After check-in I wheeled my dad to the waiting area and in less than two minutes the Clinical Audiologist (Laura Schmitt) met us and took us back to the Hearing Testing room. Laura was so wonderful with dad in answering all of his questions, addressing all of his concerns, and she did so in a manner that actually made him extremely at ease (he was actually joking and smiling during the process).Mind you, at 88 years of age and suffering...read full review

After 40 years with the VA and 20 of those in the Santa Rosa clinic, I feel qualified to review their work product. The Santa Rosa clinic is an outpatient facility and you need an appointment. It is connected to the main VA Hospital in San Francisco, which is a teaching hospital attached to UCSF. So you have UCSF doctors closely supervising. The other reviews give plenty of details, so I'll just say that I am a strong supporter. I have always had "caring care" from the VA. Forty years ago the VA was struggling. The doctors and nurses here are willing to take the time to hear your whole story before jump to conclusions about what, if anything needs to be done about any given situation. Once the story is told, they talk about whatever possibilities there are and if necessary refer you to a needed specialist who also listens and makes recommendations with great patience and deliberation. This is a perfect example of why health care should not be for profit. When they tell you to lose weight, they refer you to an in house program that helps you get it done. I could go on and on and on. But if you live close enough and are qualified to receive VA care, this is the place for you.
