This business might just be better suited for contractors doing spec homes, decorators who have done lighting and know what fits where. Everyone there was extremely nice, kind, attentive, always helpful and friendly. When you tell the associate what you're looking for and emphasize bright bright, bright lights lots and lots of light each time you meet up that should tell them what is needed. Also understanding lumens to watts is a necessary component in new lighting which I honestly did not understand. Telling the associate you need the equivalent of 360+ watts. I felt they would be able to calculate that for me. Stock canned lighting was excellent. Outdoor lighting worked out very well. Bathroom lighting did not work well. Lumens to watts is difficult to understand. We missed the mark entirely.Remember to ask about returns and restocking fees before you purchase. That can mount up, also surcharges and freight charges, if you need to return items. We get used to returns at big box stores, who will take just about anything back. Remember, which I did not, that small businesses have to do business differently. They don't write off losses like big box stores. However, the young man who helped me did everything he could to help me-above and beyond. I would return to this business if I knew exactly what I wanted, had seen it installed, and understood the amount of light rendered. The owner also reached out to offer additional help. This is a business that cares about your experience and how they can improve their customer service. Energy Plus Lighting was kind enough to reimburse me for a portion of what I lost from restocking fees and some freight charges. I like supporting local businesses- why? It's necessary to help our county's economy stay strong. I'm now more aware of caveats that are part of small business issues. Ask questions which I did not.
Completed our 1st meeting with these nice people today where we were considering the Lighting Options for our Home ReBuild project in the Coffey Park/Windrose neighborhood of Santa Rosa, California. I learned how little I know about Home Lighting. Luckily, we were paired with Amy Whistler who knows everything about the subject. We talked a lot. We listened more. We learned much and carried several pounds of catalogs back to our depressing apartment for review. We will attempt to compile a first pass at decision making in the next few days. Then, we will return to Amy for another master class in Home Lighting. Thanks MUCH, Amy.
